My wife said last night, "you know, Penguin isn't such a bad guy. I wonder when he's going to turn bad?" Maybe my glasses are tinted by knowing the Batman universe, but I'm thinking, "he's a horrible guy."

And he burned two others to death last week

"hmm, he seems like a nice guy"

Yeah, that plus the burning of the two Maronis speaks to your point about the writers making us root for him. He has done and will continue to do awful things, but we're still kind of going for him. He's the "underdog," however terrible he is.

Agreed….it’s actually unreal how the writers make us pull for The Penguin, with us KNOWING he is a horrible person….also, and this has been mentioned before, it’s a little strange that there is no police angle at all. These dudes are all in a big city where they can literally just do as they please without ANY interruption from Johnny Law. Strange.

Because they’re all paid off. It’s pretty well talked about through the movie (I think anyway maybe I’m misremembering) and even hinted at in the show with the one drop head dude that Sofia goes to.

I get that, but like with Sal…he has got to be Gotham’s Most Wanted now that he has broken out of Black Gate. But is he hiding? Laying low? Just for a minute, but now he’s out with Sophia ransacking Oz’s apartment with no fear.

This is a really great show. Just caught up. There have been multiple scenes that are so intense. And Colin Ferrell is just slaying this role.

Helping that guy get out of his parking spot made me laugh. "Keep moving, you've got room" he's a nice penguin

You've got more room than you think

He wants to be just like the guy he talked about. He knows he's the bad guy. Its okay as long as hes the bad guy for the good guys. For the little guys.
He's no worse than the political class of eletists. If batman spent half as much time fighting corruption in his own class the worls would be better off than going after drug dealers.

Already a classic movie line in my book

He wants to be just like the guy he talked about.
It goes back to Vito getting his first respect in Godfather II, the kids in Henry Hill's neighborhood carrying his mother's groceries home for her. Oz wants that glowing memory from his childhood that's had the violence filtered out by nostalgia.

I couldn't stop laughing at that line. His mannerisms and then that line...top notch.
Love this show.
