Mel is being investigated by the L.A. County Sherriff’s Department in connection with domestic violence charges. Oksana has told police that Mel punched her on January 6, knocked out two of her teeth and was violent with her on several occasions, a source told RadarOnline.com.

It's a big story in the Media. Huge even.
Top Line on Drudge. Etc.

It's too bad for Mel that this thing happened via a privately recorded conversation with an ex-girl friend instead of making those same comments over a megaphone, on film, on a major city thoroughfare, followed by intimidating voters with a billyclub at a polling place. Had the latter been the case, it would have received virtually ZERO coverage, the pending police investigation would be dropped, and Gibson's career might not be on hold.

Funny how these things work.
