It’s a good movie and the jump scare at the end is iconic. You’re just a pissy fgt.

Are you kidding me! For 1980 that was cutting edge effects.

As someone who saw it at the theater when it first came out, I agree. Probably at that point the scariest movie I had seen since The Exorcist.

2-6 are better movies fact. Have you seen the original lately? It’s a proof of concept that the sequels perfected

I mean there’s a whole 5 minute scene where they are fiddle fricking around with a snake that goes nowhere and serves no purpose other than padding out the runtime

Savini did great effects on Part 1 and the vastly superior part 4 the final chapter

I agree with you, OP. Friday the 13th isn't even the best film in the franchise. I consider The Final Chapter and the 2009 remake to be superior entries. The first film is only well-regarded due to the franchise as a whole.

Yes, in fact. It's a fun, nostalgic grindhouse style movie. What did you expect?

The rest of them are good, but basically the same thing played out over and over with a basically invincible antagonist.

And that jump scare was a first for mainstream cinema, so it deserves a boost just for that.

Anytime Kevin Bacon gets killed off, it's good.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the king of grindhouse movies.

Betsy Palmer and the gore effects carry the first movie on its back. I think Part 2 is the most similar to the first and is a waaay better movie

Crazy Ralph is a great character too, and the Harry Manfredini score is great obviously

It is not a very good movie.

You’re getting downvoted but this is an extreme understatement, it’s horrendous. Halloween was at least made by talented people

Jason Lives will forever be the best Friday the 13th movie.

I rewatched that one most. Didn't take itself too seriously and was a fun ride.

Hopefully people see this and get off their asses and go vote for Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I will vote for TCM mainly because it's one of the two movies (the other being Poltergeist) that legitimately scared me.

Silent Night, Deadly Night is better than Black Christmas.

Agreed. I can't tell you how many times I rented it in the mid-80s.
