But the Shoretroopers and any other variant you see in R1 aren't needed anywhere else in the OT, just like the Biker Scouts and Snowtroopers weren't dramatically appropriate for Scarif or any other location we saw in this movie.

On Tattooine you get the Sandtroopers, and the only other Stormtroopers you see are on the Death Star, so in their own environment you get vanilla.

My favorite contribution that Rogue One makes to ANH is when you go back and watch the boardroom scene with Vader, Tagge, Motti, et al, and you realize the empty chair at the table was Krennic's.

You mean like the ones that were personal guards of Krennic? Yea okay how about any of those other shore troopers on another sandy planet like Tatooine?

Just saw it. I really really liked it. Took my 7 year old and it wasn't the movie he was expecting because all he wants is Vader.

This leads to my question. While I liked Krenic (sp?) and his acting, I have to wonder why we needed this new character. You have one of the greatest villains of all time and a movie to use him in. Why wasn't Vader the main protagonist? I feel like this was the movie you would have used him in. This is your last shot to have Vader in a Star Wars film. I really thought this could have been his showcase yet he was nothing more than a cameo? Don't get me wrong, my son and I were barely in our seats after his short battle scene but I was hoping for more. My son kept asking where he was the entire movie.

I also understand he was never a fan of the Death Star. His point that it's nothing compared to the power of the Darkside so maybe he kept away from the planning and building? It seems to me though that the emperor would have kept him closer to oversee the final stages.

PS did the shield gate remind anyone else of space balls?

Were those ATATs prototypes? They were destroyed with ease.

And FFS, give us a Vader movie where he hunts Jedi between Episode III and R1. I need more Vader badassness.

That's how I took it. Some of them weren't really complete. If not, they were weak as frick.

Dude. I'm as much of a SW fan as anyone, and likely more than most, but at some point you've gotta let this shite go and just enjoy it for what it is.

The phrase that's eluding you is "willful suspension of disbelief". Say it with me.

Jesus.

Dude, you're on a message board for discussing movies, this is pretty much the point of this board. Discuss things you liked and things that bothered you.

That isn't suspending disbelief. It's just poor writing.

Overall, it was an enjoyable film. I'm surprised that I liked it as much as I did, because I'm a huge episode 7 hater. The CGI characters were somewhat off-putting though. I feel like they wasted better actors on this movie than the cast of the force awakens.

Am I wrong or did we need a good bit of bothans to die in this?

A lot I didn't like

3rd act is bloated beyond belief...it just drags

Liked The Force Awakens better but Rogue One was still good movie. Ending scene was badass. Vader's short scene of badassery was a tease though. We need one of these movies dedicated to Vader's story after episode 3 with a whole lot more Vader lightsaber battles with modern CGI

I assumed that they were destroyed easier because X Wings are way more powerful that than the T-47s flown on Hoth.

Nah we don't need that. What we need is a Prequel trilogy remake that is actually good showing a natural 3 film progression of the noble Anakin Skywalker turning into the evil Darth Vader instead of that pile of shite Lucas gave us where he went from whiny annoying brat to evil child murderer man out of nowhere.

The whole Prequel trilogy should've been a similar tone to this movie and makes me even angrier now about how much they were botched. The tone of the prequels was all over the place going from childish cartoon to full blown dark back and forth scene to scene.

They were honestly well done. I couldn't tell the difference at all as they looked so damn real to me.

you need your glasses fixed yo, because that cgi was bad.

they were both too in focus when your eyes in reality see a narrow point in focus and then edge blurs out to your peripheral vision. everything about their faces was crystal clear and it just looked off to me.

There were times Tarkin looked great. Others it was very obvious. Leia just looked bad.
