Maybe I’m an idiot, but I could have sworn GT wasn’t considered canon because Toriyama wasn’t involved in the writing.

Everything about that was great

I own GT on dvd and enjoy it for for what is lol.

However, I have all of DBZ KAI on blu-ray and it still is the GOAT. I’ve seen like five episodes of Super and will be adding those to my collection soon as well, but need to somehow find out what episodes to avoid since I own both Battle of the Gods and the Frieza movie.

Excited for it.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they even bothered. It's still entertaining, so I wouldn't fully skip it.

And thank god for that. GT sort of destroyed several characters and turning Goku back into a damn child was ridiculous.

I think they were going for the adventurous charm of the Dragonball franchise and figured a child Goku would bring back some of that magic.

I think Super has attempted in several ways to get back to the adventurous charm of Dragon Ball (hinted by Goku being extra stupid) but they I think ultimately Super is getting back to DBZ style with some hints of dragonball.

Frankly DBZ really took the DB in a new tonal direction as it went from fun/adventurous to serious/scifi and Super is a mix of the two and it seems to work.

I also love DBZ Abridged (and their Kai Abridged series as well).

In DBZ, I got a little annoyed at how much a lot of very important characters began to take a backseat to Vegeta. All the humans were really important, especially Krillin, up through the Frieza saga even if their power levels weren't up there. Then came the Android/Cell Saga, and all but Krillin were filler and even Krillin was only important for having the hots for Android 18. Then came the Buu saga and if you weren't a Sayian, you were trash. Super is sort of the same way, though giving Roshi some cool moments was pretty awesome.


Interesting note though. In Super's tournament, the single most important EVENT is actually done by Krillin.

Krillin saves Android 18 from falling.
Android 18 defeats several foes, before saving her brother Android 17.
Android 17 prevents Goku and Vegeta from getting blasted off when both were incapacitated, was the one to defeat the giant, merged robot dude, and of course was the final winner overall.

So, Krillin, at least, gets a moment that the show doesn't really acknowledge. In all honesty, he's my favorite character, so I was hoping he'd have a better run in the tournament.
