I don't think Jim fumbled it, more than he just got distracted for a split second. I always felt like they were trying to show that Jim killed the interview, but then basically withdrew to stay in Scranton and go for Pam. Because clearly that interview was going great, and Wallace loves Jim...he has great sales numbers, is very personable, is a good employee (when he tries, but Wallace isn't around for when he isn't trying), and they bonded playing basketball a few weeks before that at Wallace's party at his house.

I thought he withdrew as well because he knew that he really wanted to be with Pam. Also he didn't want to work for a paper company the rest of his life and we find out that he wants to be involved in sports and live in Philly in an adjacent episode.

I always thought it'd be funny if some writer from The Office wrote an actual transcript of Michael's deposition that included things from the episode and other made up funny answers from Michael.

We are getting a lot of this sort of material with the superfan episodes, the xmas episode is far more raunchy with the extra content.

His main job was the website. Who would you rather working on that, a guy in his 20's, or someone who still doesn't know how to use powerpoint and drives into a lake b/c a gps told him too?

I see your point but how much did the fraud end up costing DM?

They're part of the Peacock streaming service, if you're an office fan than the $5/month is well spent. Caution, there are only 3 seasons with extra content thus far.

I always loved when they show Michael in his element and exceeding easily, and wish they would've done that a little more here and there.

Same. I really liked seeing Michael be competent at times. Like when he went on the sales trip and closed a couple big deals. They didn’t do it very often but it showed he wasn’t a complete clown

He's broke because of Jan. He was doing fine before they started living together and she was fired.

I always figured he wasn't a baller anyway when he freaked out over the cost of the condo.

Hell, the whole shitshow that eventually led to this episode was Michael masterfully closing the big deal with the Tim Meadows character that turned Jan on

Also, to previous points, Michael wasn't just mad about Jan stealing the diary, she lied about only doing because of the nude pic even though she had no idea it would be presented.

Jim definitely would have been offered the job. Wallace practically showed his hand when he told Jim that the only person he wouldn't like there was the HR guy.

Ryan getting the job after Jim walked away was typical corporate hiring shenanigans. The degree usually wins over upper management when it comes down to the bottom choices.
