Exactly what I said.
I'm a casual Office fan. I watch reruns on TBS and from time to time I catch it on NBC. Whenever I'm in the mood for it, I guess. But because of Ferrell, I did watch last night.
Like you guys said, he wasn't too over the top and I think it's obvious he's going to eventually turn into a complete prick. Him being on the show temporarily confirms that, IMO.
The whole funny guy thing was over the top but "I guess this is my life now" line was pretty good. Cowboy Darrell was funny as shite. Especially with him walking into the meeting all decked out in his SW attire.
I do think Dwight and Ferrell has potential.

I was just about to say isn't that an exact quote from old school, only with Denver instead of Colorado?

I have to say I was very disappointed. Ferrell's character just wasn't that funny. He was much more mean than funny. I think the writers are struggling with what to do with him that will top what Michael Scott did. I don't care what anyone says but Steve Carell made that show. It was funny because of his character. I don't see the show lasting much longer after his departure.

Wasn't there a similar line in Dumb and Dumber or am I mistaken?

dont care for WF as the replacement for Michael Scott
I thought the first half was great, when he seemed just as goofy as Michael, but in a different way.
Then he sort of turned serious and "boss like."
The interaction with Andy was painful to the point of being embarrassing.
The rest of the cast, (aside from Pam, Jim, Gabe and Kelly) was right on as usual.
After the early part of the episode, I thought Ferrell was dreadful.

Agreed. It's really being starkly shown now how great Steve Carell is. The thing about Michael is that you know he's a good guy, regardless of how stupid or thoughtless he can be. My complaint about WF has always been that he has a very dark/evil seeming way about him. It's hard for me to put my finger on it exactly, but I really just don't like him. I've don't think I've ever seen him in anything where I didn't get this feeling.

Great insight. That is what made the interaction with Andy so painful.
It wasn't playful. I came across as just mean.

Also, Gabe was worthless as always last night. They should just write him out of the show completely. I'd even be fine with them giving him the "little sister on Family Matters" treatment. He sucks.

This episode blew. I'm high and don't even think it is funny.

I think I am one of the few that likes Gabe's character.

I thought WF's character was good, but it will probably get old fast. The only real bad part was that Creed was nowhere to be found

Some stuff was funny, but I just don't see why the have to take everything so absurdly far now - e.g. Andy's routine. Right, he ate soap.
