Oh it’s real and there’s a big surprise with her character. Those rumors well…..
But you could probably have deduced that something was up when they added a character that isn't in either the Odyssey or Iliad and cast Page in the role.
It's Nolan, so it won't suck, which I think is the point. They need for one of these woke cast movies to do well so they can say 'AHA, SEE? IT DOES WORK" as if having a woke cast is what makes it good.
Nolan is their best hope for this. If he can't do it, no one can, but it would still be better and make more money without the clown shite.

I was thinking maybe she’d introduce the story at the beginning or something. I really thought the rumors were just rage bait, I didn’t think they’d actually do it.

quote:Yes, I think a person who watched a film, whose job is to watch and review films, who would ideologically more likely to take issue with the casting if it’s an issue, has more credibility than people who haven’t seen it. And I think that’s especially for people who terminally only who get caught up in the dumbest culture war stuff.
so you somehow think the fact he’s a “conservative” reviewer gives him credibility when he announces his love for the film that uses an African Helen and transgender warrior?

According to Chris Gore, she's in the beginning and end and is integral to the plot.

Oh there’s no question the controversial choices were done with a specific intent and will be prominent. People saying otherwise aren’t being honest. I think it’s going to be very up and down, the story will be perverted beyond repair but it’ll have great set pieces. Going Friday so we’ll see.

Have you not watched any tv show or movies in the last 20 years?

Like the director and cast?

Still, you don’t think it’s surprising someone like Nolan is doing this?

No. Sometimes you have to do what Hollywood tells you to do. The woke must be appeased.
Do you think it was Nolan’s idea or was he told it was happening?

It’s more sinister than DEI castings, they want to erase the Western Hero archetype.
My guess is he was presented the spin in a way that stroked his ego and he bit.

Yes. I guarantee this movie will not hold up on future viewings the way a Gladiator or Troy does because you have these clearly political decisions beating you over the head and you know exactly why they did it. Yall can cite RT all you want, but you know the truth.
Look at my Helen is Lupita thread for proof, everyone only said that’s a fake rumor, no way that’s true, etc. Why? Because they knew it was fricking ridiculous.
Now that it’s confirmed, we have a pivot to the RT score, “they aren’t even in it much”, and they won’t engage the actual issue
I also think it’s funny that anyone thinks a critic could give a bad score to this movie (assuming 10% of them were right wing anyway), you literally can’t critique this movie on its political choices without being called a racist, ostracized and fired from your publication. Especially with Nolan’s power in the industry

Well that’s their pattern
- it’s not true, you’re being ridiculous
- ok it’s true but it’s actually part of the story
- ok it’s not part of the story but that’s a good thing
- why do you care
- you’re hurting people if you don’t like it
- you should be banned for not liking it

Haven’t seen many movies have you?

Going to be a massive opening, going to be in the top 5 easily for an R rated movie opening weekend. Which is hard to believe since it's 3 hours long

So there were folks that thought this would flop or bomb right

You forgot,"its going to make money so that means its a good movie."

100-115? Really? That isn’t typically great for what they’re expecting out of this movie. I guessed $850-900mil on the low end and over 1.1billion of its a smash hit but 100-115 suggests $650ish numbers which wouldn’t be good. Nolan’s movies do tend to have legs so opening weekend doesn’t quite mean what it does for most movies here but even Superman did $125 on its opening. I was thinking $135 or more for this movie.

They don’t even understand the difference between gross and net.
