Hands Down Best film of the Year.

It is like Interstellar Except with Matt Daymon in Greek Mythology.

Very solid adaptation. The Odyssey has never been one of my favorite stories, but I enjoyed this version. Not feeling a need to see it again.

The Good:
Cinematography
Script (the dialogue didn’t bother me)
Editing
Acting
Battles
Each creature stop along the way home
Sound

The Bad:
Casting. Just bad. Having Asians and Indians and Blacks took me out. Every time I saw them.
Costumes. No continuity. Sometimes they looked Greek. Sometimes Roman. Sometimes Medieval. And the Robin Hood scene with Berthnal and Holland… Yikes.
Score. Terrible. Just a bunch of noise.

The Ugly:
Elliott Page. Huge mistake in casting. Terrible performance. Totally wrong for the role.

I’d vote for Project Hail Mary for Best Picture over this.

Saw it last night in 70MM IMAX. I agree with most of this. Thought is was solid a 8/10 and didn't notice enough woke to bother me and I have a fairly low threshold for it. The main aspects that stood out as others have beaten to death were Sinon and some diversity in the cast.
- From a narrative perspective, the Sinon role and Underworld changes didn't bother me. He just pulled the character from the Aeneid and used her to create narrative cohesion. Page was a poor choice for the role, but wasn't in it much.
- The overall casting wasn't great, but I wasn't truly bothered or distracted by it. The diversity is not what I would expect to see in Ancient Greece, but at the end of the day this is a re-telling of a fictional story. I actually thought the exotic nature of Helen worked as a reason she would be objectified in that setting.

Sound was a little loud in parts, but overall not bad for Nolan.

I will probably watch it again on streaming, but it won't be something like Jaws where I will stop what I am doing to watch it.

He didn’t know they were in the horse. Stop trying to rewrite the movie to add things that didn’t happen. IOU people are completely dishonest

as my post says based on who i quoted and the fact that i saw the movie Sinon absolutely didn't know they were in the horse it's painfully obvious.

i'm not sure how you could even read my post and think i thought Sinon knew they had soldiers in there.

Clear to me after watching the movie that Sinon didn't know.

You can question how realistic that would be as they built the horse on the beach and then the armies sailed away. Not sure how they would hide it.

I stated in another post that I didn't mind the narrative change of including Sinon from the Aeneid, but I am a little bothered that they changed the characters motives. In the Aeneid, Sinon knew they were in there, told a perfect lie to trick the Trojans and then let the Greeks out of the horse once the Trojans all passed out for the night.

No reason to change that. Sinon still could have died in the sack of Troy and moved the narrative in the underworld scene.

He’s literally there while they’re building the horse dumbass. So he’s not with Agamemnon, Odysseus and his men don’t leave, Sinon is present and he doesn’t know they’re in the horse? You either didn’t see the movie or more likely you’re just saying anything to cover for the plot holes.

Why are we arguing with someone this stupid?
