Tom Hardy - He's having a huge summer, and his turn in Inception had a Bond feel. I think he's Number 1 at this point.

Hugh Jackman - Was on the list with Craig before, I think he'd be the best pure Bond.

Christian Bale -

I can not see any of them as bond. Especially Bale

I think next bond should be DDL

I think the reason why Dalton's, Brosnan's, and Craig's Bonds were so much better than the rest of their movies is that they all represented new beginnings and it allowed the moviemakers to return to the basics. In the second movies & beyond, they tried a little too hard to be original.

I like Craig but I hope his Bond is done "growing" into the role of being 007.

If we're going to go faithfulness to the book then it's a totally different ball game. And one that I'm not qualified to play. Disagree about Moore. His movies were the most 'fun' to me and very much inspired many of the spy movie tropes we see today.

The fun of Bond, in my opinion. is the elegance and the somewhat silliness and fun that the movies were. It's hard to really compare people like Moore and Craig, as they're not really portraying even a similar character. I feel like Moore is like the Pink Panther (not the cartoon, the live-action) and much more tongue-in-cheek and slightly more serious and Craig is more like Vin Diesel in xXx but with marginally better writing and much better acting.

And I never said that he wasn't SUPPOSED to be brutal, inexperienced, violent, and an action movie star. The problem is that those things do not describe the character James Bond. I said that I hated the direction they were taking the franchise and that his representation of Bond wasn't anything approaching the character that has appeared in virtually every other Bond movie.

I like Fassbender or Hardy.

Wasn't there a rumor going around that they might introduce a black james bond. The guy rumored for that was Idris Elba.

I think Craig's movies have been damn entertaining, but he still didn't fulfill the role in its entirety in my opinion.

You need someone with a bit more of a sense of cool and reasoned detachment, in my view. For all Bale's masterful roles, I don't know if he can pull this one off in the true spirit of the classic Bond actors.

I'm going to throw in a name that might seem out of left field, but how about Richard Madden from Game of Thrones? He plays Robb Stark. I love his intensity and he'd probably be about 30+ years old by the time it would happen. However, he is Scottish, so....

Henry Cavill would have been perfect, but he won't go for it now that he's Superman.

Emily Blunt joked she should play Bond.

If we ever went so PC that it happened...I actually think she'd be a solid choice...if it had to happen. She could look ruthless, a little rough but also seduce.

If this is Craig's last Bond film, I think it might go to Guy Pearce. If its not, it is up in the air on who it can be.

Another one if its Craigs last film could be Jason Isaacs. He is up there in age but he does look the part:

Because shooting hasn't wrapped yet...

I just assumed he composed the trailer score because it sounds like his work.

I promise you I hated QoS more than you, but I'm really looking forward to Skyfall for numerous reasons:

1) Sam Mendes is a FANTASTIC director

2) Broccoli and Wilson heard the negative outcry from fans after the QoS project failed, and I'm certain they worked tirelessly to redeem themselves (just as they did after Die Another Day)

3) Based on every story and plot hint I've read, the story itself is going to be a memorable one.

And lastly... even though the trailer was mediocre at best (but what more can you expect out of a teaser to a film that's still shooting), the film itself just LOOKED amazing!

Connery. That was all Connery. Moore was Connery, but less convincing and more fun.

Watching Moore fist-fight was painful, especially in the later films.

Except things didn't get "silly" until the late 80's, after 7 or so films. That was never why the films were good films.

Let's call Craig more like Willis instead of Diesel, give him some credit.

Neither is Moore's Bond. Moore's Bond is a caricature of the Bond created by Connery and revived by Dalton. But agree to disagree on that.

I will admit, Moore has two good Bond films to his name, Man with the Golden Gun and The Spy Who Loved Me.

No love for For Your Eyes Only?

I grew up with Moore as Bond so he will always be Bond to me. Looking back on some of the movies later though, I totally see what you mean. I still liked Moore's presentation of Bond the best, although he was a little out dated to be a convincing super spy.

I liked the rubric you created earlier. But I disagree about having to interject the books into the movie discussion. Unlik ePotter and Dan Brown, IMO the vast majority of Bond movie fans have never picked up an Ian Fleming book.

Mediocre, but not bad.

Exactly. I did too. But as I grew older, it was Connery's Bonds that were the best. Yeah Live and Let Die was better than From Russia With Love when I was 12.

Now, the quality gap is laughable. While From Russia With Love is the preeminent spy movie, Live and Let Die is just goofy.

True, but the overall best Bond, Connery, definitely took inspiration from the books. So although it shouldn't dictate what they do, they should at least always refer to the core and literary aspects of the character. Bond is at his best when he is a Spy, not Inspector Gadget.

Not sure if posted, but looks like we have Craig as bond for quite a while.

quote:

On 19 December 2011, it was announced that Daniel Craig has signed on for five future Bond films, bringing his total to eight films which would break by one film Roger Moore's record of the longest running actor to portray the character.

I doubt it would go 5 more films. That would be like 2025 or so and he would be almost 60. Not that he couldn't pull it off.

That's why Guy Pearce probably isn't a likely replacement. He's older than Craig.
