I'm pretty sure the main character made it clear that he was a Republican. Thus, I expect them to go after the Dems soon enough.

Yea I believe he said when he was talking about the Tea Party something along the lines of "they are taking over my party."

Those Republican hayseeds won over Democratic douchebags. They had Waterson's character make a small eulogy for a Ohio Democrat who went down. They weren't exactly thrilled about the results.
It was pretty clear from the beginning of this show that they were going after the Tea party. The anchor had a much longer "eulogy" for the Republican guy. They weren't thrilled with the results because of the amount of seats the Tea party won.
The spelled out who they were going after multiple times in this episode.

Fully aware of that.

Just finished watching last night's episode. I thought the middle of the premiere got pretty slow and was on the verge of quitting on it. However, I think the show picked up towards the end of the premiere and the last two episodes have been solid.

She was also Anne Kronenberg (Harvey Milk's lesbian campaign manager) in Milk.
And I'm forever jealous that she was on the set with Diego Luna, Emile Hirsch, and James Franco at the same time.

One of the jackasses in the newsroom is talking about how the AMERICAN PEOPLE elected the most radical congress in history.
In full disclosure it was called a "mandate" by many Republican/Conservative outlets due to the unhappiness with not just Democrats but the direction of the GOP. And it is pretty radical when guys with little to no experience, in large numbers, unseat incumbents. For instance Rand Paul was an optometrist with no political experience outside of being Ron Paul's son. It's was one of the biggest changes for the GOP in lord knows how long.
Radical by definition is extreme change, not necessarily bad change.

That was not why the character called the congress radical. The implication was the same old liberal crap of "they are going to kill old people," "they are going to take away social security" " they are going to force religion down our throats." This is exactly what was implied by the character.
By the way, there is nothing "radical" about Americans making peaceful change, without violence, at the ballot box. The last statement applies to the character, not necessarily to you.

I don't think radical always carries a negative connotation either. The tea party hoorah was pretty radical when it happened. Not like gather up the Jews and kill them radical but much different than previous movements radical.

The problem the show is going to run into is that most ppl in America aren't smart enough to understand the way the govt actually works and they will lose interest bc it's not about the mob

Any person with a sense of politics and political drama would have realized that the point of the episode was NOT to bash Republicans and praise Democrats. That particular storyline was making the point that the Tea Party movement, whether you like it or not, resulted in some fairly conservative and decent members of Congress being voted out (in a fit of mass hysteria in some cases) and that a disturbing number of the Tea Party backed candidates were loony and/or lacked any depth or experience. And it distressed McAvoy greatly. So what? All of a sudden this makes the show "liberal"?

Daniels' character allegedly being based on Olbermann is why many expect the liberal tilt.

Link?
Olbermann was a fricking sportscaster in L.A. and then on ESPN before moving on to Comedy Central, MSNBC, etc.

So Sorkin spent some time in Olbermann's operation during the BP oil spill and now Olbermann says the character is based upon him? Quite a stretch, imo.

Just got around to watching this episode.
I thought it was just as good as the first if not a little better.

It was an entertaining episode, but there was a huge liberal twist this episode. Hopefully like some suspect they do the same bashing towards the wrong on the other side, but im not expecting it.
