Yeah, sure, cause there hasn’t been thousands of review bombs and over a dozen threads on this site whining about casting black elves and hobbits in Tolkien….

They would rather put their own political propaganda into a show than to make a good tv show. Mentally ill people.

Do you plan on letting the class know yet who and where your first target is in your fanfic war on the “progs” tough boy?

They're frothing at the mouth racists, they can't watch a white show, as it was written based on the original content, it's sad

Your mom certainly does, bitch
… but in all seriousness, she really wishes you would stop sleeping in til noon and get a job. She’s worried since they laid you off at GameStop that you do nothing but post and rage cry to her about about black elves and blaming all your issues on the “progs”

By stating facts?
I know some people these days recoil at them, but I promise you, they shouldn’t be this triggering for you

That’s by design….That’s her character at this point. This is not supposed to be the ethereal fully matured version from the films. This is younger, more reckless, less mature, angrier, and almost blinded by her pursuit Galadrial.
The problem (and I say this as someone who is enjoying the show) is that there's no way that someone as emotionally immature as she has been could have been made the "commander of the northern armies." And she's just too reckless to ultimately grow into the person she will become.
It's overdone.
Yes, I enjoy the show, but it's only something like 8/10 for me. (Edit: but, yeah, anyone giving it a 0/10 or something like that is just hate-watching, if they have watched at all, because, for them, it's the Culture War uber alles).
Oh, and the stranger is obviously Gandalf. If you can't see that by now, I don't know what to say. "It can't be Gandalf, because he doesn't arrive in Middle Earth for another thousand years" is only a good argument in a series that is adhering to canon timeline, and this show clearly isn't.

There are a lot of things I can nitpick about the show but again, this really isn’t one of them. At least from purely the show’s narrative.
She was headstrong searching for Sauron(and she’s correct to do so!!), and it rubs the elves the wrong way. Faltered in her dealings with men, which as established with Elrond an episode earlier, is sort of a thing with elves and not being great at relating to other races without a lot more effort and deeper empathy.
IDK, it’s also just weird to draw a line from commanding an army to it somehow being unrealistic she’s not great at politicking with other races. That’s actually an almost worn out trope in literature: the great commander that sucks at being a peacetime leader, can lead an army and dominate a battlefield but can’t navigate politics to save their life. Hell, it’s pretty historically accurate too, with commanders like Hannibal. And in that regard she’s not THAT bad.

It just seems so obvious that the writers almost have to be trying to do a bait and switch. I would honestly be a bit disappointed if they did do this. But I lean that you are probably right

Tolkien was never big on battlefield tactics.
His leaders are heroic not strategic.

My rudimentary knowledge of Tolkien is a result of reading The Hobbit as a kid and the LOTR and Hobbit movies. I like checking in with these threads to gain insight and learn things I may have missed in the episode. After 5 pages of race/gender arguments I give up.

These threads get derailed on the second post. You can’t have an actual discussion. Both parties calling each other racist
