I didn’t either. But I’ve worked with teens, who have been in some fricked up situations, for a long time.
It reminds me of kids I’ve worked with who were parentified as a kid and were never given the opportunity to develop as a kid. Makes sense that would fit in a post-apocalyptic world where both girls were in a FEDRA camp as orphans.
Comparing it to kids raised in a well-adjusted, two parent home doesn’t work IMO.

I'm not gonna get into this bc it's not important and it's one of those things you just hand wave for television's sake, but electrical power distribution doesn't work like this. Whoever is running things for FEDRA's power unit would certainly be curious about the gargantuan draw the mall would generate and they'd probably look into it

Once again the gay part of the episode meant zero to me. If Ellie would’ve had a boyfriend I’d feel the same way.
She does suck at cussing though. Or maybe it’s the writers fault. It’s a skill that not everyone has

I thought the same with the very obvious lights that would be seen through the mall skylight (that you see in the clip where Ellie is overlooking the Mall).
I think the larger point is there was an explanation. The guy I responded to was losing his shite like it hadn’t at least been mentioned.

I mean, who is raging about that in here? It's not like that one dude from a few weeks ago going nuts about anal seepage and shite like that. Most seem to be simply pointing it out or talking logically about how it feels forced (which can happen even with it being based on source material, FYI).
But again, any negative discussion is immediately met with "MUH GAYS" or "people losing their shite lolz" and that kind of bullshite. So I stand by my comment that with certain posters in here, the show is beyond reproach and can only be lauded.
FYI, I caught the mall power comment in the episode last night and appreciated that they at least addressed that. Often times shows like this could fix gripes with a single throwaway line of dialogue, and they did that for me with why the mall had power.

Did you not read almost the whole first page of this thread?
Mostly (sans a handful of posts) are people complaining about gay characters.

Yeah but complaints about teenagers that grew up in a military run pseudo fascist city cursing a lot seems a tad asinine. I could understand the complaints about this episode spending so much time on Ellie and Riley right after Joel nearly dies, but calling it filler or complaining about teenagers cussing just seems ridiculous. Also complaints about two gay couples who existing in the show is just dumb. It isn’t 1955 anymore and most people aren’t going to throw a fit like some here over it
