Just finished season 4 last night, and now I feel empty inside

Been a long time since a show has made me feel that way.

The final season of Vikings drops on Wednesday. It should tide you over if you watch the whole series. Another fantastic series.

Vikings got convoluted. It lost me right as Ragnar was meeting his end. I need to finish it.

Writing went to shite shortly after Ragnar died. The "seasons" just seem like disjointed episodes going in every direction.

For me, when they introduced Ivar the Boneless as a belly crawling psychopath without actual bones in his legs, Vikings went to crap. That time period isn’t well documented, but what little is known, Ivar was a major war leader that eventually dies in Ireland.

While there is no way to know the actual history of that era, I much prefer Bernard Cornwell’s version in his Saxon Tales novels about Utred. At least he admits where he takes liberties to fit his story. Plus, Ivar and Ubba are real badass Vikings in his books.

I’m a fan of the show, but Brida is the worst. They should have killed her off a long time ago.

I am Uhtred son of Uhtred and I will recycle the same plot every season. Am I Dane or am I Saxon? And why must I let my woman die all the time?

You’re probably going to get your wish this season. They have her set up as the main antagonist for season five.

As to the person asking about the next season, it’s been green lit and filming starts soon, if it hasn’t already.

I still cannot get used to the actor playing Uhtred. He just doesn’t fit the character at all. Weird bc the show otherwise does a great job casting.

Alexander Dreymon doesn’t fit the stature of Utred, who is a big muscular man in the novels. But I think he captures Utred’s personality well enough that he makes it work, plus he and David Dawson, who is perfectly cast as Alfred the Great, have great chemistry. And that is the most important relationship in the novels and tv series.
