Taimak aged well. Surprised he didn't have a bigger movie career.

I thought he'd be the token black guy of the 80's/early 90's.

That whole soundtrack is money.
Two things I didn't realize until looking at those photos, since I haven't seen the movie in a while.
1. That's William H. Macy pleading to Laura Charles that she should meet with Eddie Arkadian.
2. One of the three dancing fortune cookie factory guys is Tony Blundetto's laundry business boss on The Sopranos.

I thought this movie was so badass when I was a kid in the early 90s and thought karate/kung fu and Bruce Lee was the coolest thing ever. Of course, I got to college and rewatched this and realized how awesomely cheesy this movie is.
I <3 this movie.

Funny story about this movie. I was pretty young when it came out in the theater. It was family movie night and my parents wanted to go see The Color Purple. I had absolutely no desire to see that so they bought me a ticket to see The Last Dragon. The previews had already started and when I walked in the theater it was packed, standing room only. When I looked around, I quickly realized I was the only white person in the theater and being so young and with not much experience behind me, I was pretty intimidated. This older black man saw me and I think he realized how scared I was. He smiled and waved me over and said I could sit next to him and told me not to worry. It ended up being one of the best movie theater experiences of my life. I had never experienced anything even remotely like what I witnessed in the theater that night. Everyone was whooping and hollering and I even got into it. It was a blast. The only thing that came close to being similar was Rocky IV opening night. But The Last Dragon still tops that. For this reason, this movie will always have a soft spot in my heart.

Reminds me of when I was 14 and went to see "Red Dawn" it's opening weekend at a theater outside of Ft. Rucker Army Aviation Base. My brother and I were the only civilians (I'm sure there were others but it seemed like it at the time)in the joint.
The Last Dragon was produced by Motown's Berry Gordy. There was a tv documentary on it on BET or One Network (can't remember) that talked about the stars life after the movie. Pretty much how he was idol after its release and how he followed bad management/ego career decisions shortly after the success shooting his career in the foot. I think he tried to make a run as a martial arts star as well.

Vanity in her prime.
Still wonder why Prince dumped her before Purple Rain or what the fallout was about, anyways Appolonia was the perfect replacement.

I honestly thought this was going to turn into one of those Star Wars/Fresh Prince OT threads at first.
I kept waiting for you to say that this big Asian guy jumped on someone's boom box
