John Candy was severely depressed. He hated himself for being so fat. He tried often tried to lose weight but was clearly unsuccessful.

Every time I see him in a movie, I feel sad. I don't see the humor. I see a sad man playing the fat man caricature.

Tragic life.

I'm saddened knowing he died prematurely, but I don't see him as a caricature of a fat guy in most of his movies. That's Chris Farley for you.

Spaceballs, Uncle Buck, and PT&A are 3 of my favorite comedies ever. No coincidence they all starred the same guy

Clearly y'all have never seen Armed and Dangerous. John Candy and Eugene Levy were at the top of their game for my favorite John Candy movie.

Honorable Mention for Stripes even though he wasn't the lead.

I haven't seen Armed and Dangerous since I was a kid. I should probably re-watch it.

Great movie. Candy and Levy were also both great in the old SCTV show.

I'm not surprised that no one has mentioned his greatest movie role.

He was at his best when he played the horse in Hot to Trot
