The Answer is Rowan Atkinson, Mr. Bean himself.
Don't believe me... Replace the main character with him in any movie, and tell me you wouldn't be at least a little curious to see the results. Lol
Imagine his facial expression with Predator right behind him. Imagine him dodging a bullet in the matrix. Imagine him leaning up at the end of the original Saw revealing him to be the mastermind.

It’s hard to make an all time because there are different eras. For me I can’t pick John Wayne, because I never watched a whole movie outside of the Alamo. Tom Cruise is my time. Been relevant for going on 4 decades. Tom Hanks hasn’t put out anything good recently either. Harrison Ford eh not better than cruise.

Cruise is easily the greatest modern day movie star.
All time it's either cruise or Wayne.
Hanks is probably second for modern day and is this era's jimmy Stewart.

quote:Life Magazine pegged him as that back at the end of the 80's when he had The 'Burbs and Turner & Hooch in the theaters. This was back when he was almost exclusively a comedic actor.

my mount rushmore in no particular order:
Cruise
John Wayne
Jimmy Stewart
Olivier
Will Smith
Harrison Ford
Bogart
Hanks
Denzel
Heston
there's a few notable exclusions there. Hanks, Sly, Arnold, DeNiro, Brando, Clooney, Pitt.
the guys above will drive butts to seats. the others are great at what they do but IMHO are a little more one dimensional.

We always ask for the one. But that's just an illogical eay to do it. Back in the day, there was no one close to Chaplin or Wayne. It's was clear. But with time and culture changing, it's just way more complicated.
Tiers are always better:
Tier 1
Tom Cruise
John Wayne
Charlie Chaplin
Outside of these 3, no one else has a great argument. But they should nt forgotten
Tier 2
Tom Hanks
Clint Eastwood
Harrison Ford
Jimmy Stewart
Humphrey Bogart
Tier 3
Arnold
Laurence Olivier
Charlton Heston
