My thoughts:

Am I the only one who didn't see Godzilla as a "good guy" and the MOTUs as "bad guys"? The MOTUs weren't actively trying to harm humanity in any way, they were just trying to procreate and people were just insignificant collateral to that end. Godzilla wasn't trying to help humanity, just killing MOTU because that's what Godzilla does. To me, that was the point, nature DGAF about us. Nature gonna nature. Humanity can't do shite. All their plans didn't change the outcome of what was happening to them.

I found certain details of the movie humorous in this regard. Examples like the infantry still clinging to their weapons when on mission. 5.56 probably isn't terribly effective against five hundred foot tall monsters and shite. (I know they would be needed against civilians if they interfered with the mission etc.) I lolled when they one soldier chambered a round in his sidearm before the HALO jump.

I really liked how most of shots were from personal perspective giving that sense of scale and weight. It really paid off when you actually got some wide scale shots of the monsters fighting each other.

Anyone else surprised to see Kick arse grow up to be a less effeminnate version of Tim Tebow?

Overall I thought it was damn good "Godzilla" movie. Definitely scratched that itch for easily digestible awesomeness with just a tiny hint of depth.

There were subtle touches that gave Godzilla human qualities. When he came out of the water by the bridge, did you notice how he held the side of the bridge while i guess he was monitoring the situation??? It looked like he was gonna destroy it and everyone on it but he just kept his "hand" there, i thought that was pretty cool

the only old school godzilla movie where there is a long build up to godzilla is the original one. And even in that one, once you got godzilla, you got a lot of him. also, the tone of the original godzilla was a lot different than this, that film was a serious critique of social issues.

Godzilla vs Mothra has a helluva build up. The two monsters don't fight until the last 20 mins.

And the format is similar in most Godzilla movies.

I enjoyed it.

It was old school Godzilla charm with modern FXs.

In movies like that i never question the plot or anything, but is yucca mountain really that close to Las Vegas??

That's really the least problematic thing about them using Yucca Mtn in this movie. Yucca Moutain has never even been used to store nuclear waste, thanks to Harry Reid and now Obama.

It's a Godzilla movie, so I expect to suspend disbelief a large amount, but a movie that takes itself so seriously shouldn't have so many dumb plot holes.

It would have still been okay for me if we got the monster action I went for, but they spent 90% on dumb human plotlines and cutting away whenever anything cool would happen. The 10 minutes of Godzilla action at the end didn't make the rest of the movie worthwhile.

Was a big meh for me, 5/10 or so.

Fun movie.

And I got to follow it up with seeing another loud, angry creature. Lewis Black.

Kick-arse is the ultimate cock-block. I'm surprised Ford didn't take the last name of his wife just like the actor did in real life.

Did you really just try and use the Transformers movies as a way to indirectly defend Godzilla? I mean really? The Transformers movies are garbage.

I will say that this Godzilla movie was probably better than any of the Transformers flicks, I'll give you that.

That movie is the definition of why I go to the movie theater.

This, to me the Oscar bait flicks are just as good on 47 inches as they are on the big screen.
Movies like this I want to see in Imax or at least in a theater with great sound and resolution.

I just seent it. I didn't want to, but it was good. Movie was very intense. I fell asleep during the big fight, though.

This is me as well. I'll throw in comedies because that can be fun watching with a crowd some times, but theaters are only worth it to me for these kind of films.

Did you really say that you have a problem with one little thing that happened in a movie about a giant fricking lizard with atomic breath because it didn't really happen in real life ?

I had a problem with a multitude of things with that movie, that was just a small symbol of many things that made it not so great. Good for you for liking it, many people didn't, myself included.

Has anybody mentioned the word MOTHRA taped to what looks like a fish tank when they return to the house in the quarantined zone? Surely I'm not the only one who saw it.
