I don't think he'll make much of an appearance in this film. However, from everything I've read he will have a prominent role in the next one.

You know what I mean, just retelling of the guy with force powers mentored by the old man. Also if there is a death star. I want to see some originality with story telling.

Possible spoiler:
It seems that he is a storm trooper from the First Order (an imperial splinter group) who defects early in the movie. He's going to be a main character in all three films.
FWIW, I think I've figured out the overall plot of these next three films.
