But people like Harry Carrey and other morons are denying this

And The Last Jedi is the natural step forward Hollywood should be taking with its representation, telling stories about its women that don't have to be the single defining narrative for the franchise. In doing so, the film finds room, alongside Rey’s epic hero’s journey, for subplots about the bonds of sisterhood or female authority figures dealing with hot-headed male underlings. It just scratches the surface of the stories these films can tell.

“Hell yes it’s time!” Johnson told Yahoo UK. “There are so many incredibly talented female directors, directors of color out there and so many I would love to see play in this universe. Yes please, I would love it to happen.”
Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy has been criticized by some for her comments on hiring more diverse directors. In November, she told Variety, “We want to make sure that when we bring a female director in to do Star Wars, they’re set up for success. They’re gigantic films, and you can’t come into them with essentially no experience.” Some observers have related this quote to the chicken-egg scenario: how can minority directors gain experience if key gatekeepers like Kennedy don”t provide them with opportunities? Considering the financial success of Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman and the critical praise heaped onto Barry Jenkins for Moonlight, it appears as if their is ample recent evidence supporting a more diverse eye in Star Wars.
I don't think they are really trying to hide it.
Which is why I don't understand why you're being shite on and posters are attempting to deny the "franchise holders" intent. Some will like the direction and some won't. But it's obviously there.

I don't care at all about this, my problems with this movie are far more fundamental.

Because it's a really silly thing to be enraged about.

They were emboldened by Wonder Woman - now they have to sit back down, as it turns out to be an exception that proves the rule.
Our culture (okay, normal people in our culture), male and female want to see good guy males defeat bad guy males and save female damsels in distress. It's evolution.
If a mainstream film explored the same themes as, say, 50 Shades of Grey, but with gender roles reversed, it would TANK. Why? Ain't nobody got time for that. And I don't deny there are plenty of folks out there who engage in that sort of dynamic, but it wouldn't make it as entertainment - certainly not to the degree those terrible 50 Shades films have.
Deal with THAT.

:shrugs: Probably. But it's there, and deliberate.

Can’t they just go with likable characters first? I mean even the haters love Rey. She’s a very likable character that’s done well. But a fat Asian chick saying that rich people are to blame for everything evil? frick you, and it’s especially hypocritical being delivered by a bunch of rich people.

I think Taylor Swift is garbage music, but if someone likes it I don't have the right to sweep in and tell them how much Taylor Swift sucks. It's just being a dick.
Harry Carray is a moron

Yeah, but Wonder Woman is a likable character first and foremost and the movie clearly was not sexist against men in general. Rey and Wonder Woman are done right.
