was Silva supposed to be a homo?

I think the homo exchange was supposed to reflect on his deviant personality. Didn't he run a sex trade operation? His banter with Bond was intended to rattle Bond.

epic. Speaking as one who has been following 007 for all his 50 years of filmdom, and has seen every Bond film and read every Ian Fleming Bond book (not the later Bond authors), Skyfall is one of the top Bond films in the entire genre. And IMO, Daniel Craig is arguably now at least tied with the great and iconic Sean Connery in playing this role. Definitely Craig and Connery are the gold standard of all Bond actors.

Sorry you didn't "get" or like the ending. It was solid entertainment. And BTW, I didn't count 50 mercs in both groups combined.

It was a horrible ending, the movie as a whole was terrible.

I like Craig as Bond and where the franchise was heading (newer, brasher) though this movie kills it. Sorry to say guys, I think most reviewers/fans of Bond have lost perspective on this one.

Looks like the minority is the one who doesn't have perspective here

I admit, don't know how all the critics like this one, though mistakes have been made before as well. There are a few extremely negative reviews out there though, not alone on this one. All in all, it was garbage.

Although the ending was slightly weak in terms of action and set-up, it was the symbolism of what was going on that was important. More than anything else, the series completed a giant circle. There's a reason they ended up at Bond's childhood home, at his beginning. There's a reason they blew it up. There's a reason for M having to die.

It wasn't the beest ever, but it had some of the stronger themes a better narrative than most Bond films. I'm glad they took that chance.

The whole movie was fricking odd. As an avid 007 fan, they have one strike left, so the next film had better deliver or I'm through with this franchise.

Loved it, but for awhile in the middle I thought I was watching the Dark Knight. Bad guy gets captured on purpose, there's an elaborate plan set up for when he does get locked up, and he and his buddies steal a cop car.

Was any else sad that bond didn't get to eat his mac'n cheese after he set up the house?

Home Alone reference? I definitely had flashbacks to Home Alone while they were booby-trapping the house.

I could poke so many holes in this movie. Right from the beginning, it lost me. If this list of NATO agents in terrorist organizations is so important, why in the hell is it on some random laptop in the middle of nowhere Turkey guarded by one guy?! I kept waiting for an explanation of that.

Also, Bond had a perfectly clear opportunity to shoot the fleeing thief in the beginning while they were riding motorcycles on the rooftops. He was like 10 feet away and his gun was very much in easy reach while he was riding. I could not figure out why he didn't take a shot there.

Later, it is clear that Bond can hear everything Moneypenny and M are saying while Bond is fighting that guy on the train. Bond later tells M that she said, "Take the bloody shot!" or somesuch. So if Bond can hear, why not freaking coordinate? Why would Moneypenny not just say, "Bond, on the count of 3, drop the ground so I can take a shot. 1..2..3." Boom, done.

Even accepting the incompetence in not coordinating with Bond, who can clearly hear you, Moneypenny still had a clear shot of that guy on the train after she shot Bond. Was there only one bullet in that gun? She just stared at the enemy as he rode away.

I could go on and on. Overall, I did enjoy the action scenes and the interplay between M and Bond. I also thought Bardem did an excellent job. But the flaws in the ending have already been pointed out and there were so many other plot holes or just displays of incompetence by these supposed professional.

I assumed the dead 00x, Bond and Moneypenny were working together to retrieve it, 00x gets there first and is shot.

The first half, right up to Silva's Joker-esque escape was the best Bond film since 1968 or so. The 2nd half was a fine action movie, but my standards are higher.

The end of skyfall was...

....a copy of Batman Begins. Basically, the hero is in his element, with his chief accepting his assignment. It was cliche Bond from the Connery era....and I thought it was awesome. I don't think Nolan was the first director to do that either. Having M's old (or new) office back was a great twist and if TDKR hadn't had the Blake/Robin thing, then nobody would be questioning the Moneypenny twist. Also, M is a male again. That alone made the movie good enough for me. The only campy part was when the Aston Martin was destroyed and they cut to Bond getting pissed off. As if that is what finally sent him over the edge.

The third act was a little off, but overall it was a really good movie. Hopefully, they're done with the "Bond Begins" stuff and can now move back into having the traditional formula for a Bond movie. Quantum needs to return.
