Zero continuity right now with Pattinsons Batman.
Love or hate the films or actors this will be a mess to the franchise being that Gunn has stated there will be another Batman movie that fits in the new Superman movie DC universe….

I have said this multiple times… they should have thrown the bank at Bale and Nolan and made that Batman the centerpiece and base all other characters around them.

You're a fool for wanting it any other way. PatBat will thrive in his own universe.

Batman and Robin will be a different vibe and one that is much more fitting in Gunns DCU. I would love to see a dark, scary Hulk film but that Hulk wouldn't fit in the MCU as well as Hulk Smash did.

I don't know how many times you said it but it doesn't make it any less of a bad idea. Bale/Nolan's Batman was also not a good fit for a proper superhero universe.

Good. Pattinson’s Batman and Joker should remain in their own universes. That’s always been the plan. They don’t make sense in a superpowered world. Neither did Nolan’s Batman.

Outside of Joker and Batman, it’s a massive shite heap of “no one cares.”

Continuity has a very short shelf life in franchises with large casts and frequent films. Once you get to a certain level, it's impossible to not frick it up.

The best thing that DC (and Marvel and Star Wars) can do is to take their time and put out good films (The Batman) and to prioritize quality over how it fits into a larger puzzle.

I like the newest Suicide Squad and LOVED the Peacemaker series.

I'll wait to see where Gunn is going with Superman.

Why does it all have to be connected?

Yeah I've never understood the reasoning behind that. I guess it gets butts in movie theater seats but I think it's dumb.

Same here. I rewatched The Suicide Squad last week and it’s really fun.

It doesn’t but people feel the need because Marvel did it.

Yep

And because the Justice League has always been the team in most people's eyes. Goes back to Superfriends, maybe...

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (hard to do live, but would be so fricking cool if they could stick it), Flash, Aquaman, etc.
Problem with a realistic depiction is that quite a few are basically god-tier heroes, and you somehow have to integrate them both into a realistic setting (hard to do) and then find a valid threat that won't seem like a pure rip-off of the Thanos Infinity War movies.

How can you not understand that DC elseworlds = the stories that aren’t connected?

We haven’t seen one thing from the DC Universe yet

More often than not, it works.

this is probably going to be a top 10 stupidest thing i've ever said on this site...

but Nolan's Batman (as flawed as it was) was too far rooted in reality, character, and morality to fit into any sort of universe.

and i'm going to go stare at my wife's boobs for bit to remind myself that i'm an adult male.

That's what made it do so well. He went with a version any dude could see himself being. The older detective version (ie built in reality).

you say it's a mess and zero continuity but there is a plan.

Gunn asked Matt Reeves about making his Batman part of the DCU but Reeves wanted to craft his own Batverse so Gunn made it part of the DCEU.

You claim zero continuity but want to bring in a batman from a separate universe to feature in the NEW REVAMPED DCU.

How original.

Superman Legacy will be the very first movie in the new DCU so how can you have continuity when no movie in the universe has even come out yet?

I’m pretty sure Matt Reeves and Pattinson wanted it that way
