This is like a villain's origin story. Not a hero's. It was already clear that the writers hate Hal Jordan. Now I think they hate John Stewart too.
Maybe they just hate Green Lantern in general.

Ol' girl reminded me of that distastful nasty teacher from the Harry Potter movie (not Snape, the woman). I think that presentation was purposeful.
It's clear the animosity between Hal and John are due to the Guardians.
The possible Red Lanterns clearly hate the Guardians over the Manhunters, rightfully so in my opinion.
Sinestro may actually have had a legit point. More to the point, it bothers the Guardians that Hal is even talking to him, and Hal clearly has reservations about being too open with what he relays to them.
The Guardians (this one) want a repeat of the Manhunters; orders without question. John is so passively stoic that they consider him basically a machine, but I think he's playing shite close to the vest and watching.
In other thoughts, I wonder if not only is Hal not really dead (fake engineered decoy body), but that the bullet to the forehead might have been John at the trigger.....
I can see these two guys figuring out they're being played, and give Hal an "exit" so he can go off radar, and Stewart gaining their trust.

I see Sinestro plot lines, maybe??
The Guardians say "no fear", but they pushed John's parents fears pretty hard, to the point they destroyed their family. Now they're playing on Hal's fear of being replaced.
Sinestro (the best Lantern) says fear is more powerful, it's what he uses.
On that note, I'm noticing there is a distinct yellow hue to the opening logo, not just green.
Is she really Parallax, or doing the work for it?

Just finished the episode. I don't even know what to say at this point. First episode was great, nothing happened in second episode, third episode was crap.
If they continue this trajectory this will be an all-time fumble of a show.

Hal Jordan---privileged to watch his father die. Guardians hate Hal....much like writers appear to. Thankfully, Stewart will obey any orders, has no morals and seems like a genuine piece of shite.

Scoob mentioned a few posts up that they're essentially setting Stewart up as a living, breathing Manhunter. It's a fair comparison.

But we've been thrown breadcrumbs that he's thinking things out more than he lets on. He made a point of putting mama through the same BS that he and his dad went through due to her, for example.
Hal is abrasive because he's having John forced on him, apparently as a replacement, which happens to be exactly what the Guardian suggested to John in the interview. So Hal's not just being paranoid. Interestingly, he was smooth and charming with John's parents, so he's also aware something is going on, and is willing to play it out to see who's pulling the strings. And I think he's trying to provoke John into reacting, to get him to open his eyes.
I think, this show hasn't shown us the true villian or issue yet, but it's laying the groundwork for that.
