I have a feeling that such characters as Harley Quinn and Robin do not interest Nolan in the slightest.
Robin, yeah its completely against Batman's character that we currently know to have Robin around. Harley Quinn though is pretty interesting. Pretty much whenever the Joker has a good point, any rational person's response to the Joker is a swift punch to the face. Harley though is the one who listened to the madness. Granted they sort of did this with Harvey in the last film, and like him, you'd have to make her more of a tragic figure than an outright villain.

I do agree that the joker would have been in this one but im not so sure he would have been one of the main villains. I think he would have had a small role yet just enough scenes to please all the fanboys.
You can't do what they did with Scarecrow. Scarecrow was still a bit player in this universe. If Joker ever escapes Arkham, shite hits the fan. I'm thinking the League of Shadows portion would have been still part of this story, with them coming to take Gotham down for good as the Joker fills the streets with thugs and more chaos.

with them freeing an entire prison I think they'll pretty much have to explain just where in the frick the joker is though

All they've gotta do is free "a prison," and not Arkham.

Anyone finding themselves liking the new villain in this installment of the dark knight.

Is that a complete thought? Is it supposed to be a question?

I was presenting it as a question?

i think nolan wouldve connected the two. as in the joker and league had an agreement. and then at some point joker, in typical fashion, goes to his own plans, thus fricking over the league.
so youd have batman, the league, and joker all out for each other.
now you have bane with the league and i think catwoman fills the role as "ex-leaguer" in Nolans universe.

Oh, in that case...no, I don't like Bane or Catwoman, and was disappointed when I heard it would be those two.
ETA: I do think it's cool that in three movies, Nolan was able to work in so many from Batman's rogue's gallery...Falcone, Mr. Zsas, Scarecrow, Ra's al Ghul, the Joker, Two-Face, Bane, Catwoman. Not bad.

They do. Arkham is an asylum for the mentally insane. That is where the Joker goes. Black Gate Prison is just a regular prison and that is what Bane busts open in the second trailer.

hmmm...i gotta say that i like this Bane.

he couldve felt it, continued until the ground stopped shaking, then turned around.
No he stopped running because he scored a TD. Just so happens that the ground stopped collapsing at about the 5 yard line.
Stupid shite like that has no business being in the movie to begin with. You can make a damn good comic book movie without having those over the top elements. The Dark Knight was filled with nonsense like that.

The greatest action movies ever made are filled with similar coincidences and cheese. This isn't an avante garde film Nolan is making here. In the end, it's just a summer popcorn flick that is smarter than your usual summer flick.

I don't think that the Joker would be working for the League, but I think the League was counting on someone like the Joker showing up. I think the League would make it more of a point to show off the Joker to Batman that they are indeed correct that Batman's methods don't work and they need to go to more drastic means to cleanse Gotham.
But yeah, it would be battle royale between all three sides (4 if you count GPD).

Mr. Zsas
I really wish he could have used Mr. Zsasz more effectively in the first. Arkham City Zsasz would have been great.
