I wonder if they have it planned out in advance when they're gonna use the mercenaries or if TJ brings them in whenever he feels like it. Smart plan by Kam though. She played the whole house.
I thought the same thing. Producers could have seen what Kam was up to and were like let's bring them back this week. I like the twist that they'll be part of the game if they win.

I don’t know. That could prove to be difficult to have them on standby. Takes a lot to fly into a new country and get them on site.
Also, TJ is a host, not a producer. Always funny how the cast acts like he is screening them over dirty or utilizing twists
Glad to see them using the new mercenary format. I mentioned that as a possible option a few seasons ago. Makes sense to incentivize it rather than before when they’d just fly out to compete and then leave. Not really much motivation. Now there is

I concur. It was a fantastic plan that worked out to a tee. But that's a power move that should have been used to eliminate a power team. She should have played that card exponentially better and it's unlikely that move will work again. What a wasted opportunity. She should have pulled a "Tony" right there.

Easier said than done when she has allies in the house. If she puts up two of the strong teams, one of them comes back and pretty much seals her fate. Now the two strong teams will be more inclined to protect her.

I get what you're saying but at the same time, one of those two teams were going in anyways. It was all for naught. The timing was just off for a play like that. You got to make a move like that count.

It was impressive but kind of a huge waste to do it to the rookies. If she had pulled it off to send Tony/Bananas against Brad/Kyle or Zach it would have been an all time move.
Exactly. It was great how she played the entire house to perfection (and Sylvia deserves props for that too
It was hilarious watching Brad go wide-eyed insane when Kyle brought up her plan at the voting.
I don't really like the mercenary angle at eliminations, especially when they randomly appear....but I do like that they can join the house though.

ETA I really hope they don’t use this new mercenaries twist as a way to have vets skip half the season.
Agreed, big time. If you want them on the show, then put them on the show the whole time.
Best part last night was that we at least got to see an elimination and a challenge in the same episode. Hell, even the vote for the next elimination.
ETA: Oh, and also seeing that Derek still sucks assholes. That dude has to be the worst male challenger in history. If not, he's damn close. He is absolutely useless and sucks at pretty much everything.

I disagree. You said yourself that she has allies in the house, so nobody can really "seal her fate" at all. This game is all about people on your side...if you have any, you're better off than having none. And she has several. So even a strong team that would potentially be gone and then come back would have an uphill climb against her since she is so well-allied in the house.
Also, this is only her second challenge, so the old brigade has no allegiance to her at all. And her partner is borderline useless, save for keeping Nelson in your alliance.

Tori would be wise to make up with him so they don't ever get paired up together again

Kam and Kayleigh don’t know when they’ll ever get a chance to make this play again. This was by far the most impressive move I’ve seen since watching it again. It literally worked to PERFECTION. It’s not their job to eliminate a friggin power team. It’s their job to skate by and give themselves a chance at the end. She literally did make friends with everyone in the house. They all thought that shite was genius and funny. Skating by.

Eh I disagree, it was a solid move that worked exactly how she wanted but if you can't beat the two teams she put in, you aren't winning the challenge
you want the best teams to eliminate each other plain and simple

It also give the producers an out if they can see the season is in a lull. Adds such fresh blood to the show and most are going to at least be competent challengers, too.

Watched last night....
WTF were Tori and Derek thinking choosing to go up against Sylvia and Joss? Especially when they can see the ramps set up already. I know they don't really know the whole challenge, but that was a stupid pick.
And predictably they got beat pretty soundly.
Must not be much house drama this week, because it's right into a challenge.
Fun challenge, but I don't really like that only the winning pair from the winning team is safe. The dudes did all the digging and then Kam and Kayleigh wriggled out and ended up the overall winners.
Brilliant plan by Kam, it worked perfectly, great supporting roles by Sylvia and Kyle, and then she wasted it by voting in the all-girl rookie team? Come on, there's your change to vote in Zach and Amanda, or Bananas and Tony, or even take a shot at Cara Maria and Marie... and you just go with the rookie team that was probably going in anyway? Lame.
I know she thinks she's earning points by protecting the other teams, but they don't care about her and will stab her in the back first chance they get. Except maybe Shane, he's a little bitch.
What's going to happen when the voting is inevitably tied between two teams? Power team as tiebreaker?
And then her plan was really ruined anyway once the mercenaries come in. And does really anyone look at Hunter and Ashley as mercenaries? Hunter's a big dude, but it's not like he has some long history on the show. Ashley won once on a weak season but hasn't done shite otherwise. I do like that they can play their way into the game, though.
Best part of the episode though, Kyle's line about Brad maybe not blinking for the rest of the season.

If it was a girl/girl team they probably would have need 4 balls instead of the 7 the guy/girl team needed.
Posted on 8/23/18 at 8:10 am to DayBowBow
They still would have been better off going against Faith and Angela at a disadvantage than Joss and Syvlia on equal footing.
Posted on 8/23/18 at 10:39 am to 1ranter1
If the teams were all guy/girl, this season would be one of the best.
Posted on 8/23/18 at 10:41 am to lsutiger2010
Yea, the deflating thing against her plan is that she used it against two teams that would be voted in next anyway.
Posted on 8/23/18 at 10:51 am to ShamelessPel
It was almost like Kam knew they would win the challenge for power. She was talking about having the master plan to use this week before the power challenge even happened.

Any ideas on some other "vendetta" pairs that could come in as mercenaries?
Laurel & Easy E?
Jordan & Sarah?
Corey & Aneesa?
Wes & Casper or Louise?
