Oh; I’m sure everyone has been waiting around for two seasons to see if Frenchie would have some gay sex. I’m sure everyone has been talking about it.
Ridiculous.
Ridiculous.

I'm more surprised The Deep hasn't gone gay

The show does make fun of all sides, but it still feels pretty left leaning mostly.
It makes fun of the right in ways that conservatives and libs would even think is ridiculous and over the top. I can’t say the same about the way it treats the left, especially this season.
There’s nothing wrong with pointing these things out. It’s put in the show for people to pick up on it. I’ve just accepted the fact that Hollywood is run by liberals and that isn’t going to change. I’m not sure I’d be completely happy with a conservative Hollywood either. As long as I’m entertained more than I’m put off or bored I’ll stick with something.
Really like the addition of the smartest person and her interactions with Homelander. They look nothing alike but makes me wonder if Candace Owen’s was the motivation for that.

Frenchie being gay is ridiculous when he’s been smitten for Kimiko.
How tf is Noir alive, and now he speaks?
I only watched the first episode and kinda agree how they force some of this stuff with today’s politics. MM knocking the frick out of someone with a red hat.

Watched E1 tonight and Frenchie banging that dude was something I legit don’t like. It doesn’t make much sense within the character and most definitely feels so overly shoehorned that it’s almost insulting. And for comparison, I don’t even care that the new hero we meet (the smartest person in the world) is a black woman. Sure that feels forced a little at first, but if she’s well written I can buy into it. And I’m actually pumped to see Homelander operate with someone like that at his disposal. As ridiculous and over the top and shocking as this show is, tonight was the first time I sort of rolled my eyes at it in a bad way, and felt that it was a little too on the nose. I hope it rebounds well, and I love the show so much that I’m here for the long haul. But it was glaring tonight for me for whatever reason.
I like Sister Sage, I feel her character will have a big role this season when it comes down to trying to take down Homelander and the character wasn’t overblown with BS. Frenchie and the Gay storyline wasn’t needed and was written in simply to have a Gay storyline for him. The political stuff was more than noticeable in a show that’s already outrageous. After the first 3 episodes the heavy-handed political messaging and gay just to be gay stuck out more than the actual story, the potential for a great story is there but if the next 5 episodes are more of the same the story will easily get lost.

Just because you Georgia freaks think about blood relatives getting a creampie doesn’t mean everyone else constantly think about sexually perverted stuff.

I guess that’s what I’m trying to say. We don’t need some weird caricature on screen every 10 minutes. The disdain of the writers for a portion of America is noted, so can we focus on the badass story y’all have built up instead of shoehorning every single “crazy conservative” trope imaginable multiple times every episode?
ETA: LMAO right after I make this post I’m watching and: Homelander and Sage asking Neuman to condemn Defund the Supes, and ban Critical Supe Theory. This shite
God it’s turning cringe

It’s Sage! Those racists added the “Sister”
She also doesn’t want to wear a suit because it’s racist.

Dude I literally talked about how that is not even critical of the left wing itself in an earlier post. It’s critical of corporations for co-opting left wing ideas, but not critical of the ideas themselves. Meanwhile every 5 seconds the show is throwing some dumbarse fringe right-wing Telegram BS out and attacking the right broadly with the accuracy and subtleness of an early canon.

I wouldn’t exactly call it fringe especially with Trump being so popular on the right and all his spineless yes men in the GOP.
Posted on 6/14/24 at 12:40 am to dawgfan24348
I don’t know what to tell you honestly. I’ll be voting for Trump in November, along with millions and millions of others. The vast majority are just normal people. The fringe right will also be voting for Trump and have weird beliefs about what that means to them, but they don’t represent the 75+ million that voted for him last election. I’d ask you to imagine a show with conservative show runners, constantly throwing in screeching blue haired liberals as stand ins for the left wing. I mean every conservative boogey man, communist stereotype thrown into every episode. Wouldn’t that get kind of annoying and distracting? I am fine with Homelander partly representing the worst aspects of Trumpism, but it feels like the show is trending towards making that the main focus.

Not you, but I can’t remember the screen name of the poster that got way to personal with family stuff. He was from Georgia and I lumped you in, that’s my bad.

I mean he is the main antagonist and he was created before Trump got into politics. The writers just adapted him to the current political environment which just happens to be Trump who’s an egotistical douche bag

He’s been a Trump stand-in, that’s fine to a degree and hasn’t been a issue with my enjoyment in previous seasons. What I’m saying is that the writing has gotten worse and annoying this season. Again I’ll point to the Defund the Supes and Critical Supe Theory thing as just a minor example. It’s not even as clever as previous seasons. It’s constant and exhausting. I like the characters and have been hooked on the action and story. I’ll keep watching, I just hope it improves in that one area.

Somewhere between the gay and political messaging they may be developing a decent story. I'm getting pretty bored with it so far though.

Yeah I think that's my thing on why it felt so different. It's not clever at all and is intentional to the point of being insulting no matter which side of the aisle you fall on. Like you (or someone else) said, if they rolled out screaming, purple-haired lesbians at every turn I would roll my eyes at it in a bad way as well and get tired of that pretty quickly too.
