The accountant that they gave the "special shoes" to?

He died last night from his gunshot wound.

Speaking of the shoes...they never said what they ever did with them.

Plot hole? Minor unnecessary plot device?

I'm guessing Philip and Elizabeth were all "frick your shoes" after almost being killed by Larrick, finding out The Center was behind Jared killing his parents, and that The Center wants Paige to become a baby spy.

They are probably still rolling around in Philip's trunk.

It sounded more like Jared was behind killing his parents. The center certainly set things in motion with recruiting him covertly, but Jared was the one that freaked out when his parents found out and tried to shut his spy gig down.

Did the accountant die? He seems like he will squeal the minute they lean on him. I have a feeling Stan will be the one to do the investigation and he will get real close to the truth.

Yeah, you heard over the police scanner, they initially called for an ambulance but then they said "never mind, just send the coroner."

I'm not sure how Stan would tie him to Phillip and Elizabeth. He wasn't even Phillip's asset until recently.

Definitely, my use of "The Center was behind it" was more shorthand for "if The Center hadn't gone behind Emmett and Lee Ann's back and used sexy Kate to get Jared to fall for her and use that to get him to commit to becoming a baby spy then Jared wouldn't have freaked out and killed his parents".

When I see the accountant, I always think of Kevin from The Office.

I think some times people are just looking for things to point to and call a flaw. Not going thru excruciating detail of where the shoes went is not a plot hole. Explaining what happened to the shoes is unnecessary What we need to know is did he or did he not get the shoes out.? Haven't you watched the show? The plot is getting the guy to do it and what happens to him. We saw them pick up the shoes, where they go after that is not important. Did we see where they went with the propeller plans after then stole those? We can assume they dropped the shoes at the next drop off point and the next guy in the chain picked them up. We don't need to see that.

Ok spanky.
I think some times some people can't have a fricking discussion either.

Perhaps stealth will be a storyline next season and they will tie the shoes into the first episode. I would bet money they are, at the very least, mentioned again.

I'm not saying they won't, but they made it sound like pursuit of stealth tech was pointless without Echo, and as locked down as Echo was, if Stan didn't get it for them, they aren't ever getting it.

Alright, so I watched the finale last night.

I really enjoyed the way they tied up the Nina/Stan/Oleg/Residentura storyline. It was the second major plot all season, but it was very well done. I think it was time to end the Nina-Stan relationship and see what happens with his marriage now that he isn't focused on a woman who is using him (although NIna's relationship with him was more subtle than that). I also loved the scene where Oleg just walked right by Arkady, clearly showing his disgust. Oleg is a great character. Hope he's back for the third season.

Does anyone else think Oleg is the type of guy who becomes an oligarch 8 years later, using his smarts and his father's connections to own a privatized nickel mine or something?

The other storyline had some problems, imo. The whole mystery of the season was who killed Emmitt and Leigh Ann, and they did a better job with it than the Bridge did last summer, for sure. However, I didn't like the sudden pyscho turn for Jared. Felt a bit too contrived for me, especially since he was a junior Soviet agent, yet he goes and kills two of the most important secret officers.

That being said, did anyone watch his final confession to the Phil and Elizabeth a second time, after watching the whole episode and knowing that the Center had created a junior spy program. At first, with his use of pronouns and non-specific words, it sounds like everything between him and Kate was sexual. With new knowledge, literally everything he said can be interpreted to be non-sexual as well. Since both Kate and Jared are dead, I guess we'll never know everything that went down.

The other thing I didn't really like was how Elizabeth had a 180 on Paige becoming a spy. I realize it was done to set up conflict for Season 3 and I agree with SFP that it now really brings back suspense for the third season, but it was too sudden a change. If they just had her quiet in the scene between Phip and Claudia (that's her name, right?), it would have been a lot more feasible.

Not my favorite episode to close the season, but finales are tough for dramas, much tougher than for comedies, but this is still the best drama on television.

If he had a gun and his parents didn't and he was prepared to use deadly force and they weren't I could see it happening. The more contrived part, although it's still somewhat plausible, is that he was so in love with Kate that he'd kill his parents if they made him quit working with her.

Upon the second viewing, you can view his statements a bit more as he was so in love with his country from what Kate revealed to him, that he was willing to do anything for the USSR, and if it met killing the people preventing him from doing "great things", then so be it.

I realize it's a stretch, but the dialogue really does work both ways.

I agree with your point though.

Jared's expositional vomit confession is the worst thing the show's ever done. I think the only thing he didn't tell Elizabeth was what he ate for breakfast that morning. That was writing I would expect from a high school student. This show is smarter than that. Not to mention he did this through a horrible neck wound, was totally lucid, and conveniently died right after he had told them and the audience every single thing that the writers needed him to tell.

I hated it as I was watching the first time. Just too silly to have a deathbed confession.

However, upon second viewing, I can at least appreciate the way everything he says has a double meaning.

I do agree with you though that after creating such sophisticated and well-developed characters of all stripes (Larick, Stan, Phil, Paige, Oleg, etc), that it came off as a very lazy device from talented writers.

Yeah, I didn't catch a double meaning at all. I'll have to rewatch it. I was so distracted the first time i could barely pay attention.
