Thank goodness. I love this show. Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe Breaking Bad did not set the world on fire the first season either. Perhaps they are following the BB model and hope that it will catch on through word of mouth by season 2.

I think that was 85, but at least you've heard it or of it at least.
Yeah. I've heard it before. I mean remember as in know where I was when it happened sort of thing. The show really interests me though because I can see what people were going through while I was blissfully ignorant to the world around me.

I mean I would hope you'd know at least a little about recent decades, including the one you were born

Yeah I understand what happened and all I just didn't live in it and know all about how things happen. I know the history class version
Very interested in it though
Fwiw

yeah, if you were only 2, you'd couldn't possibly remember. I'm kind of the same way about Watergate. I'm too young to remember when it was happening, but was always really interested in it. and it was still a kid when this show is taking place, so I remember like Reagan being shot, but it's a different prespective as an adult.

from what my teachers taught me about the 80's, it was a groundbreaking time for the blacks as they gained their civil rights.

Great show. I'm glad we'll have at least one more season.

As I stated on another thread, if this series goes on long enough, I think they'll really delve into flashbacks. There's a lot of backstory to be explored.
If this series gets a few more years, I think we see it track all the way to the fall of the Berlin Wall. That could be the end game for the spy duo. I think they can do a lot with this series.

If Michael follows in his father's footsteps and Paige marries him, they could have an FBI agent for a son in law
ETA: Noah Emmerich (Stan)'s brother is the president of New Line Cinema. Maybe there'll be a movie.

Red Nightmare, Cold-War propaganda film, hosted by Jack Webb. The first few minutes touch how Hollywood imagines our spy duo might have trained for their mission.

For those of us who were there, it seems like yesterday, but today is as far removed from the eighties as the eighties were from the fifties. This is the "Happy Days" of spy dramas
This thread is starting to depress me.

I love this this show and glad it has already been signed for another season. I was young during this time period but I remember many of the things that were going on. Fr the younger guys it really was a unique and interesting time in America. From the outside looking in not a lot of big stuff happened but there was a shite ton going on behind the scenes.
The Jimmie Carter years and late 70's brought the American people to a bit of a lull in spirit and pride. I mean hell Iran had 69 Americans as hostages for 444 days and it didnt seem the president handled it well, then factor in the lackluster economy, and other issues.
Then Raegan got elected and made no bones about who the enemy was and how to defeat them. The Economy started surging and American pride was back leading us into the 80's which were great for the us. We came pretty close to full out nuke war with the Soviet Union but in the end Reagan did exactly what he said and ended the Cold War.
I think this show is interesting to see some of the soviet perspective of the time and what this brought about for them.

I was born in 1974. This shite was real and we came close to annihilating each other on numerous occasions. In school, we practiced hiding under our desks for shelter from a nuclear blast and anything Russian was about as close to "satanic" as one could come in a secular setting.
I like the Reagan was shot episode this week. I can remember that day and everyone crowded around the TV at home for the 5:30 news...we couldn't get news 24/7, then.

My new favorite tv show
. I was hoping the viewership was good enough for a second season.

I was born in 1985 and remember bit of seeing the Berlin Wall come down on the news. I can see the next season moving up a little bit to the mid 80s where Regan and Gorbechev start meeting each other.

Cool, I have been pleasantly surprised by this show.
