What a great use of Dire Straights and U2

What other songs stand out to you over the years on this show?

For me, the opening scene in the pilot with Tusk and the scene with Queen and Bowie’s “Under Pressure” were amazing.

Just finished. What a great end to a great show. I will truly miss this one, and it's by far one of the best shows I've ever had the pleasure of watching on television.

I hope Paige has a miserable life. She was the worst.

Is she just planning to live a normal life as Paige Jennings? She isn’t going to continue to work as a mini KGB agent and it’s not like she can just go back to college... So many questions there

She's got the fake passport, I imagine her parents had alternate identities set up for all of them if needed

They used "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac during one scene of them doing an operation a few seasons back.

IIRC, she randomly started hitting Stan at the gym when Philip was there. Seemed odd at the time.

I would doubt that beyond the passport besides what would she do with a false identity? Her record is as Paige Jennings, she’s in the middle of her Jr year in college she needs to get a job to support herself she couldn’t do that with a new identity eta continue her life

Start a new life under her new false identity

Why not? She could get a job doing any number of things, she doesn't have to go on being Paige Jennings to survive in America.

Define survive? You think a 21 yo would just live the rest of her life in squalor. To apply for a job even at McDonalds in 1987 you’d need a SS#, She’d also have no back ground, education etc, technically maybe she could get by but that’s it

Who said she would have to live in squalor? There are plenty of people today in America living well without any documentation, only easier to do in the 80's I imagine

You don't even need a SSN in 2018 to get by in America

She wouldn't be the first person to fake these things

She could do more than just survive, even if she is only able to just get by in America it is still better than life in the USSR

Yeah, even today you still get the occasional story of cops picking up some draft dodger or jail escapee that's spent decades on the lam and created a whole new life.

In 1987, she could probably still pull the "find some random baby that died and claim her identity" trick. And then claim to be an orphan.

I'm pretty sure that was S01E01, and I remember thinking Philip looks like Lindsey Buckingham.

I was a freshman at LSU during the time of this season
I had to get my SS card to get my first job. Fwiw

So your using fictional stories to prove a point
Shawshank was set in the 40s-50s when he conjured Randall Stevens, Andy was also a banker familiar with cracks in the system that’s also how Phillip and Elizabeth got their ids

quote:

Did you ever see Die Hard? That was set in 1988 and a beat cop from NY was able to spot fake IDs that were expensive and the Deputy Chief says a bartender could do that to

Yes it was easier in some ways (better printers now though)!but she couldn’t transfer her college credits if she changed her identity and she still need some money to get started but for frick sakes you guys win, she could forge anything and go live happily ever after under a different name with no hardship at all, probably still get a job at State jeez:lol:

I kind of wish they would have fast forwarded and did like a 3 minute update for after the fall of the USSR.
