I see we're going to have to wait for next week for the vaunted episode 3, destined to break the backs of the toxic male Star Wars fanbase and usher in a new era of Star Wars inclusiveness.

As an aside, the production quality is fantastic. The sets look real and lifelike, not that obnoxiously fake shite we got in Kenobi.

I liked the first two episodes, but that's usually par for the course with Disney+ shows. Hopefully the weekly episodes can keep up.

Part of my enjoyment is just seeing the technology 100 years in the past vs TPM, and I feel they did a good job with that.

Some of the unimportant Jedi characters look like they belong in the live action cutscenes from Dark Forces 2.

I thought the same thing. This is the balance they need when working with the Volume instead of shooting on location.

Production looks great. Makes me that much madder we couldn’t have anyone besides a radical extremist liberal directing it

I can already tell you that this is about to trigger the shite out of me. I'm concerned with seeing bad arse lightsaber whips and a hither-to unknown type of lightsaber a hundred years in the past thatvwere just abandoned in the future?

If it's going to be a period piece, it needs to be technologically inferior to the content already set in the future.

I guess the Jedi Order didn’t start admitting white dudes until much closer to the time of the Phantom Menace

It’s just that in a galaxy far far away they had their own Diversity movement around the time of the Phantom Menace. The movement was to have more white guys represented in the Jedi council.

Joking aside, these first 2 episodes were intriguing

Hopefully Filoni and Favreau get that message for the rest of the Mandoverse they have planned. I get they invented it and it worked well in Mando season 1, but they became over-reliant very quickly for a cinematic universe filled with basic arse biomes.

You can see why this era of Jedi just died out, and they needed a New Hope.

Kenobi was the diversity hire. They didn’t promote Anakin because they already got the DEI check

The lightsaber whip thing is probably a pull from the EU. I believe there was a character from one of the mid-90s EU novels that used a lightsaber whip.

A quick perusal of wookiepedia tells me that the earliest (in-universe) character to have used a light whip in the EU existed over a thousand years before the battle of Yavin

I could see something used 1000 years ago being lost to antiquity.

But not something as recently used as 100 years. It'd better prove to be worthless in battle or have some other reason for it disappearing. Not worth the effort to create and maintain maybe.

I think you could make the same argument against the double bladed lightsaber in TPM or even dual wielding lightsabers like in Attack of the clones.

At some point maybe they will explain why the Jedi stopped using multi-colored light sabers in favor of exclusively Blue/Green (unless you are Mace Windu) and started dressing like moisture farmers from Tatooine instead of gold robed monks.

It's just a stylistic choice to set apart the High Republic era. I'll allow it

The yellow sabers are a Legends/KOTOR concept.
Consulars are Blue and focus on saber combat.
Guardians are Green and focus on Force abilities.
Sentinels are Yellow and balance the two above

Lorewise it could be a symptom of the Jedi losing their way at the end of the Republic, but in reality Lucas just didn’t care enough to include them.
