Being a movie v. film is a common statement that in no way was responding to his usage of the terms. The context clues should have clued you in.
"It was clearly a movie and not a film" says that it's by no means a piece of art and is lower entertainment. Then the context of me saying positive things about it should denote agreement to the connotation of the quoted text.
