I'm looking forward to this tomorrow night. It is set to be DVR'd just in case I can't get to it. I like these mini-series that the History Channel has been putting out recently. This era of American history has always interested me.

As someone fascinated with the Alamo and the Texas Revolution, I can't wait for this. Been looking forward to it for a while now

It's a two nighter, not one, so record Sunday and Monday. There is a repeat of the pre-show revue tonight at 10:00. I saw it last night. I didn't know the half white black girl played such a role in the fight. After New Orleans and Louisiana history, Texas and the Alamo era is a close second.

I Hope they got it right. I don't have much faith in the history channel.

I am intrigued about the inclusion of Emily West.

Every Texas school child grows up learning The Yellow Rose of Texas.
It's only when we get older that we find out what all she done.

I just looked at the schedule, it is Monday and Tuesday, not Sun/Mon. 2 nights-Mon/Tues.

From all accounts it's a well researched series. I'd expect a Tennessee Volunteer to be very interested.

Also looks very violent from the previews.

After reading some early reviews, I have very low expectations. Critics are tearing it apart. And the preview really doesn't look that good to me. I don't think the casting was very good. Lots of big names, but I don't think most of them actually suit their characters.

South Texas does quite look like a barren desert. But they've kept it interesting so far

Pretty rough review from Yahoo...

LINK

quote:

The decision was made to tell this TV version of history — which mixes real and fictional characters — from three points of view: The Texas nationalists who want this part of the country united within America; the Mexicans who had claim to the land as well, and want to keep it as their own; and Native Americans who are caught in the middle and fighting hard to maintain their own independence. This attempt at political correctness (or at least even-handedness) results in a lumpy, attenuated production that tries to serve too many functions.

I don't know how they are doing a 10 hour series on the history of Texas but they only gave the Alamo 30 seconds.

I don't mind it. Alamo is known. Plenty of movies on it. Nice to see the rest of the story.
