This might be good.

I'm not sure about others, but for me I felt like Disney and dumbass Rian tried to make TLJ too much like a marvel movie, notably the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. You could see it with the lame jokes, like the momma joke between Hux and Poe at the beginning, Luke throwing the lightsaber while calling it a "laser sword", Luke drinking blue milk, also Finn seems to try hard to be funny in random moments, even in TFA. Like when Harrison Ford finds out he was in sanitation at the base, as if that was supposed to be funny.

Even though Taika Waititi is one of the directors working on The Mandalorian, don’t expect the series to take a different tone than what Star Wars fans are used to.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association Monday, Waititi was asked if he was going to be able to put his own stamp on The Mandalorian—similar to how he made a Marvel movie his own with the irreverent, colorful, and hilarious Thor Ragnarok.

“A little bit, but Star Wars is very different to the Marvel style,” he said, according to Deadline. “The tone of the first films really should be adhered to, it’s what the fans like. You can’t disrespect it. Definitely my tone is in there.”

That’s about to be expected, honestly. One of the many reasons Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired from directing Solo was because they were reportedly trying to make a movie that didn’t quite feel like a “Star Wars movie”—and that’s also why a seasoned veteran like Ron Howard was brought in to replace them. Lucasfilm and Disney executives seem very protective of the brand and are not ready to take wild, tonal risks just yet.
Waititi is one of five directors announcedfor the rumored eight-episode series, which is being written and executive produced by Jon Favreau. “It was amazing,” Waititi said of the experience. “Favreau is a genius…it’s fun doing something in the Star Wars universe. It’s [strange] to see a stormtrooper, and then when you’re doing a scene with 50 or 60 of them, it’s amazing.”

Too bad frick face Rian didnt get the axe. TLJ felt nothing like Star wars. Even Laura Dern said she read the script and thought it was an Indie film.

This brought a tear to my eye.

It was bad, but I'm curious on why lowbrow humor is so loved and accepted with the MCU, but reviled when it comes to star wars.

Because the marvel tone was written far different than star wars?

Star wars is supposed to take itself seriously.

Marvel can take itself seriously, but has moments of cutting up where it doesnt. That's how the comics were as well. It's like the heroes knew they were a comic.

Also, because superheroes are pretty bland characters it helps to not always take everything seriously.

Exactly. Star Wars humor is dry (Han Solo) and that works perfectly for that universe, because the situations that take place in the SW universe don't exist like they do in the MCU (ex. Your momma jokes being funny in MCU/real world). There were signs of it in TFA, but the humor in TLJ completely took me out of the film.

The moment Luke threw the lightsaber after Rey gave it to him, the theater erupted with laughter. I wasn't sure what to do. Honestly I could see a scenario where Luke threw it over his shoulder in disgust, but apparently RJ and the audience intended it to be humorous. The tone of TLJ was never consistent, and damn sure wasn't in line with the rest of the Star Wars movies.
