Watched the first episode of The Mandalorian and thought it was okay. Want to wait before moving on to episode 2. Moved to the nostalgia section and clicked on Swiss Family Robinson.

This movie is a dream for anyone who likes mansplaining, hates militant feminism, and and wishes the American Humane Society had no say-so over the treatment of animals in the making of movies.

I was kind of surprised at the violence. The momma and kids were wasting pirates at point blank range and they would show the bodies tumbling all the way down the cliff.

The Tiger vs dogs had to be a fun scene to shoot.

I remember seeing it as a kid and always asking why everyone was referring to the girl as "he"

I mean, if a 7 year old me could tell she was a girl the whole time;, c'mon.'

I had the Classics Illustrated comic version of the novel memorized. I then moved on to the novel and loved it. Loved all of the movies, the TV series, Lost in Space (TV and comics)...

But then I read the novel again as an adult and was struck by how horrifyingly dry it was. It was like reading a zoological and geographical text book. I dug up my copy from childhood and realized that I'd read an abridged version as a child (without the detailed explanation and classification of every bit of flora and fauna).

Ernst is such a D bag.

Disney will probably remake this movie, but this time the evil colonialists will lose to the band of oppressed gay pirates.

I always wondered how in the hell did they do this? A tamed tiger?

Glory days of filmmaking.

Back then they probably filed the tigers claws and teeth down to nothing and let the dogs kill it afterwards. It was a simpler time...

Gen X kids weren't pussies. We could handle it.

Fify

The first one I remember seeing as a kid was made in 1940. The second one we all came to know and love was made in 1960. The 1975 version was pure shite.

Hollywood does love its remakes.

I loved this movie as a kid. Why'd you have to make it weird?

As others have mentioned I was taken aback by the violence watching it as an adult. Not so much by what is portrayed, but by now knowing what those things would look like in real life (being eaten by a tiger, shot in the face, blown up by a coconut bomb). It's a little surreal to see a kid in a kids movie cheering as a tiger mauls someone to death.

You better stay away from Looney Tunes.

I think that’s an appropriate reaction when the guy being mauled was gonna rape your mom.

Does one of the kids get shot in the movie or am I mixing up my old pirate flicks?
