The point I was trying to make is that you’re a fan of his characterization of Superman.
You don’t come across as a Snyder freak though

I’m not, he and WB ruined a layup with the DCU. Unforgivable

I’m a fan of quite a few directors.
PTA
Wes
Fincher
The Cohens
Scorsese
Villeneuve
Snyder and guys like that don’t come anywhere close but some will make one or two good movies

I still love every entry from MOS, BvS and ZSJL
I have nitpicks with them like the casting of Lex and Joker, but overall it was awesome as an epic story

There was def potential there

I loathe MoS. BvS was better than fine. The Synder cut of JL was awesome.

+1 I'll take MOS over this Superman any day of the week. JL was good. BvS is the one that's really flawed. It has some really great comic book scenes, but the pacing is a mess.

I liked MoS. Loved BvS (it is absolutely unfairly criticized). Liked JL. Wish the Snyderverse had continued.

-MOS dropped the ball in the 3rd act and had the silly Johnathan Kent death scene
-The BvS storyline could have worked if it had been implemented over the course of 2 to 3 movies
- Josstice League also tried to pack too much into one movie and Whedon completely screwed the entire thing up tonally as well.

The biggest problem with those movies is that they hurt the brand. MoS was a great movie imo. Great villain motivations. Amazing action scenes that showed us Superman like we’ve never seen him. But it was divisive. Especially in tone for what people had in mind for a Superman movie. Because people have a very strong preconceived notion for who Superman is,
The other 2 were complete failures in almost all fronts except action. Which JL was worse than BvS in that department. People may love these movies and that’s ok. But the tone of BvS was almost universally hated for Superman.
But back to mos. There are some of the same things happening with this one as far as division. Except the tone. Most people agree the tone is right. Maybe minus a joke here and there. Tone is the biggest problem to bring people on board. But most people love this tone. So that’s huge and that’s the biggest reason most are happy. Let’s see what they cook up.

Great assessment on MOS BVS was the absolute killing machine for the DCEU. If they would have spread it out with MOS 2 then it could have worked. You hardly knew the character and all of sudden he dies … like WTH the city loves him, they hate him, he dies , they miss him etc…..
They have a chance to really get this right. But one thing they must do is include Pattinsons Batman. That will lock in a large portion of the leftover Snyder fans ….plus you simply can’t have 2 Batmen floating around at the same time. It screwy.

I believe it had a 1.9 multiplier. A movie that opens with 400+ mil should easily clear a billion. Just horrific legs.

+1 I've been saying this for a while now. It simply doesn't make business sense having 2 separate Batman franchises. Pre-covid, sure, but not now.

That’s why Batman in this universe is probably a ways away. Or hopefully. Has to be at least 2-3 years after The Batman 2.
If The Batman 2is a major hit, they may have to include him in the universe. I agree that 2 at the same time is a bad idea.

In the past, when even crap films like venom were making almost 900 mil, they could get away with 2 Batman’s. But this is a different time. I think Gunn and Reeves know this. It would be awkward at first, but they can make it work. Or, maybe Pattinson just moves on after the 2nd one.

If Batman 2 is a much larger success, they should take this Superman and put him in the Reevesverse instead.

Gunn has bought himself at least 2 more movies unless the next one is a major flop.
They will probably roll with two Batman’s unfortunately if both keep being at least this successful.maybe it’ll work itself out.
But I really feel like the plan as of right now is to end with The Batman 2 and start again in the new universe.

quote:I think Gunn knows better than to force things. He's been slowly distancing himself from Snyder's continuity, even though it's obvious that he doesn't want to let go of his Suicide Squad. As tiny and off-the-cuff as Peacemaker's appearance was in Superman, it was the first proof that they'd transitioned Gunn's Suicide Squad from the Snyderverse to Earth Gunn.
If The Batman 2is a major hit, they may have to include him in the universe.
I would also think that we'd get one more Batman from Matt Reeves, Penguin Season 2 is looking less plausible, and the Clayface horror film may not include Batman at all. I won't be surprised if Gunn focuses on other projects until Batman 2 has come and gone, then does a big splash with Batman capping off his fully formed universe. Kind of like Marvel not having Spider-Man for the bulk of the MCU, then putting the franchise into second gear with his arrival.
