He can only make the one movie. Hopefully he’ll be more of an overseer and hire some creatives.

Which brings us back to what is the definition of 'success'?

If we're talking just raw numbers, then 600-700 million world wide is a likely baseline for meaningful profit.

If we're talking about sustainable interest in a franchise, that'll depend on how big an impact the movie makes on pop culture, if it 'moves the needle' enough to green light further projects. Which doesn't seem to be an issue, as other projects have been green lit regardless.

We'll see.

does a lot of damage to the upcoming universe.

Wait what? It’s been a resounding success as a first entry in a rebooted universe. This statement doesn’t make any sense at all

I liked Mr. Terrific, does that mean I’m a Gunn fan?
No. but the difference here is that you’re not really a big Mr. terrific fan. You are a big Superman fan. So that’s why I was asking.

It hasn’t though, it might reach MOS numbers with a much larger budget and inflation.

If anything liking Mr. Terrific enforces the comparisons validity because I would have no previous inclination to do so.

Its projecting in that range.

The needle is apparently already moved and was going to move forward with a 550 mil range. But we’ll see if they cancel anything.

But you also have no preconceived notions. Or expectations.

You have a certain expectation of Superman. So to nail it completely, that’s why I was asking. Or to be nearly perfect with the characterization.

So it’s easier to meet high expectations than it is to exceed no expectations?

No. That’s the reverse of what I’m saying.

It’s harder to meet your expectations of Superman than it is Mr.Terrific. Because you have none. You just like this version of him.

Snyder met your expectations with Superman. A character that you love and expect certain things of. Snyder met these near perfectly. That’s what I was saying. To not be a fan of him for meeting that surprised me.

It was fun more so for my kids but overall, not a movie I would watch again.

Sorry late to the party but just saw it last week. Terrific character I like, Hawkgirl waste of space, and Green Lantern along with the costumes probably made the movie subpar in my mind. The Justice Gang I compared to the skittles gang in B Fett.

In all fairness Green Lantern was my favorite growing up and the majority of superhero movies over the last decade left a lot on the table in my opinion.

Same here, Hawkgirl was just there to check a box but I did like Gardner.

That’s why I have the M. Night example, not a fan of his either but I like a couple of his movies.

That’s also not a good example because m night has never made a character that you love prior to him making it. Is Superman your favorite superhero? Maybe he’s not I don’t know. Just seemed like you love Superman.

Kind of apples to oranges

This movie had to overcome the failed final movies in the DCEU that people stopped going to watch

MOS came out a year after Avengers and was billed as the beginnings of the DC version of the shared universe

It was also at a time when many more people were going to the theaters and international numbers weren’t suffering

Just having the character in a movie doesn’t make me a fan of the director of that movie. I didn’t like Superman returns.

That’s perception, I’m talking about performance.

I didn’t say that

I said the fact that the character was nailed near perfectly. Not just him being in it.

Still doesn’t mean I’m a fan of the director.

I know that. And that surprised me. Not saying it’s not possible, It just surprised me.

But you are a fan of his characterization of Superman. We know that.
