But that’s the thing. My one post set off a complete catastrophe in the thread because of filler. Nobody in this thread is glorifying the box office. Just happy for whatever good it’s doing.

Announcements have no bearing on the performance of this movie. I could argue that Gunn doing a 180 on Reeves universe a week before Superman’s release was a sign they knew this movie wouldn’t perform to expectation.

It is. It’s owning the summer. It’s clearly the movie of the summer.
It will outgross Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Ragnarok, and Winter Soldier domestically.
It’s the first film on a new universe. It’s successful highly.

Superhero movies were better in 2017. Yes.
Hell, Marvel was driving home to it's phase 3 finale', with the set up for Infinity Wars and End Game.
The good will built up over the past 9 years was steady if not spectacular.
