No. A loving parent wouldn’t play the psycho head games he plays. He gave them every assurance they would take over the Company and then never gave them the tools they needed to succeed. He then blames them for not being prepared and insults them by saying “Go earn your own money. frick off.” He demands their loyalty but doesn’t want to return it.
He’s an a-hole to be certain. But let’s unpack the part about them taking over the company.
If Logan is truly looking out for their best interests, then his job is to secure the best possible future for the company and its shareholders. That does not necessarily mean one of the kids should be in control. They still have their shares. So what do they gain by taking over if it’s not in the best interest of the company?
To dramatize it a bit, what’s better for the kids?
A) Leaving them in control of the company and letting them run it into the ground, making their shares worthless?
B) Securing a sweet buyout that ensures their wealth will only continue to grow?
The kids want control of the company because of hubris, not necessarily because it’s really what’s best for them. Logan has been debating the future of the company since the start (hence the show title) and ultimately came to the decision that this was the best decision. I thought he looked genuinely upset that Roman, in particular, didn’t trust that Logan was looking out for him.
So sure, he’s a shitty dad and a bit of a psychopath. But he’s still doing what he thinks is best for his kids.

I agree with that.
He loves his kids and has their best interest at heart. He just thinks/knows it's in their best interest to not take over control of waystar/royco.
He loves his kids. He just can't trust them.

Out of everybody on the show Shiv is by far the most enjoyable to see get stomped.

That even worked as a series finale for me. The kids lose, Tom, Logan and Greg win. And based on talent and political skill, that's exactly how it should end. Show over.

Truth. She’s earned all the hatred. Would still clap that arse.

So he’s dissolving it into another Company? The very thing he’s fought against the whole series?
If he doesn’t think they should run the Company, why didn’t he allow Ken out after telling him he wanted him out?
Why didn’t he instill the discipline and give them the tools they needed to take over the Company? It was his stated goal all along that he wanted to leave the Company in family hands. He failed at preparing his children and now punished them for his own hubris.
He wants his children dependent on him at all costs and then acts surprised when they can’t think or act independently. That makes Logan not only insane but also an idiot. He’s King Lear.

quote:he never considered selling the company. He was honest in that. He didn't let Ken out because he wanted to teach him a lesson. Mattson provided a solution to a dying company and Logan as much as he doesn't want to do it has to. As he said in the episode "I always fricking win". Even selling the company he worked his whole life to build he wins.

I told my wife that as Tom put it, “I just want to make it to the bottom of the top.”
That’s my life goal.

His kids are frick ups for sure and he cleans up their messes. They are spoiled rotten and entitled. But they are rarely if ever given a genuine chance to show that they can take the reigns. Whenever his kids are inches away from the finish line on an accomplishment, logan always takes the wheel back and either cuts them out or just kills the deal.
You are in the arena with lions. You are never given anything, you TAKE it. He tries to lead them but they're too soft.

I'm seeing a lot of "Shiv" is going to destroy him next season.
Are they watching the same show?
She is not even on Tom's level.

She's the least talented character on the show - which is saying something considering Kendall is on the show. Roman has some skills.
None of the siblings have Tom's ability to read the direction the winds are blowing, and he would destroy any of them.

Kind of like how somebody was saying earlier in the thread, we can’t fathom the wealth these people have… Kendall theoretically is living off of 6% of 2 billion… So still 120 million a year and never touch the 2 billion… I’d be cool with living off 6% of Kendall’s 6%

Shiv’s impatience forced the brothers to do what they did and end up where they did in the finale. This is a constant with Shiv.

By the way, this was the first promo for season 3. It was right in front of us the whole time!
It’s either been altered or they have multiple versions. The promo pic on my television looks like this…
