Not hating it, but it really does feel campy. It’s like they’re doing a stage version of the original show or something.
And are they all trying to copy somebody with their hairstyles? Nancy in particular looks ridiculous. That’s not a 1987 hairstyle.

Dang Lucas has a receding hairline now
Holly was 3 in season one and should be 7 in this timeline but looks like they are jumping her timeline up and not even pretending she should be 7.

Guess they wanted an older actress to play the part because of what they needed with her character?
Should be 7, i think the character is 10, but the actress is 14.
Has a Dawn Summers (Buffy Season 5) vibe with how they present her.

Just finished all four. Not great but I’m invested so will finish it out.
I am assuming spoilers are fine. Really didn’t like the call back to another one of the telepaths.

So roughly a year and 3 months since the end of S4
Did Rockin Robin have a radio show in season 4? If not, she’s done 500 episodes since season 4 so it’s been closer to 2 years if you count for downtime after season 4 to when she got the radio DJ job.

Season 4 is March of 86. Season 5 Fall of 87. So 500 would be about right.

They definitely don’t need to call the kid “dipshit” 20 times. We got the joke already.

Just finished gotta say, I enjoyed it. Kind of had a walking dead vibe. Definitely going to do a rewatch.

Good but not great. I don’t feel like very much was accomplished and I don’t really have a connection to the kids Vecna kidnapped. They all seem to still be hungover/recovering from season 4. Hard to see how it will top season 4 but I have an open mind.
I enjoyed Will being more than a victim and how they included Max in the story so far.

My only complaint so far is the excessive “gd” every 3 minutes. Seems like I counted 50 times tonight they said it

Just finished episode 4 and spoilers will be below, so be warned.
Writing was bad. Really bad. Not only was the dialogue weak, but it was very repetitive. At one point El said “Look, there’s more blood, so it must be close” three times in a span of a few minutes. There were plenty of plot holes and contrivances, but the worst offender was the “gotcha” at the end where the demigorgons and Will go down in pain as if Vecna is being killed by Hopper’s sacrifice in the military base, only to find out Hopper didn’t in-fact sacrifice himself, but instead found the sister from season 2 (yuck), and also Vecna was completely free the entire time. So why the hell were the Demigorgons playing dead all of a sudden and then as soon as Vecna is revealed to be coming from the gate are they all of a sudden okay again? It felt incredibly cheap and unsatisfying. Will’s turn at the end felt too convenient.
Overall I’d say it wasn’t terrible, as I was entertained, but there were so many moments that took me out of a scene. The pacing was off. The characters motivations and decision-making made zero sense at times. It was jarring just how lacking the quality was compared to season 4 after rewatching it recently.

Yeah, that annoyed me a good bit as well. Didn't like how they did a Thanos in endgame on the demigorgon power level, making them impossible to kill, from a taking damage standpoint.
Otherwise I thought it was a solid first 4 episodes.

They fell down in pain because Will was hurt and fell down in pain. They had built up him being tied to them throughout the season, he just didn't realize it until the end. It's not really something that popped up out of nowhere. Vecna cleared it up to for them because he established control over them himself.

If people weren't "invested" in this show everyone would be mocking how absolutely terrible it clearly is now.
No show has probably ever suffered so much from a bizarre production history.

1 episode to go for first drop and I am not impressed at all...
The whole Nancy coordinating the scout party was comical, like she is some general and expert on military actions.
