I feel like they stuck the landing enough. Not perfect by any stretch, but lots of loose ends tied up. Some not. The battle was a bit weak for 9+ years of lead up and a 2 hour finale, but it got to the point we were getting to so we move on. As much as I didn't enjoy most of the eps from this season, I think I will do a rewatch as I've only watched each episode once and there was a decent amount of stuff I didn't get that first time. I'm thinking a lot more will make sense and hopefully I enjoy S1 like I did the first time around.

Well, the finale sucked from beginning to end. Complete trash.

Why do these creators insist on putting vague endings left up to interpretation ? Sometimes they should just spell it out.

Meh, don't know what to think about the final. Not terrible, but certainly not great. I'd say a 7/10.
Weak arse climax with how easily they defeated the mindflayer, plus what was the purpose for the kids, just to wake him? They weren't under their trances when he came to life and were escaping the cave.
Was really expecting a surprise in the last 45 min when I looked at the clock and realized it was just over halfway done when the battle was over. Lots of filler as was most of this season.
And I don't understand all the cast comments about everyone balling eyes out. The end wasn't sad and was easily predictable. Hell, the end of S3 when El is reading the letter from Hopper was much sadder than this ending.
Hard to land a series finale with such hype, but think they still could have done so much better.

Them shooting fire and bullets at something the size of the Superdome made my eyes roll in the back of my head like a Henry possessed kid.
Its the equivalent of me trying to set a bear on fire with a lighter

Yup, bullets and the likes wouldn't harm a 7ft tall demogorgen, but they sure as hell take down a 200 foot tall super beast.
Not to mention what someone called out in this thread, the fact that the kids scaled the side of those mountains inside of 2 min. You have to suspend belief for a lot of shows like this, but the writing the last couple of seasons has been comically bad.

This isn’t even vague just chicken shite. They didn’t have the onions to kill off any one but nameless soldiers

Yeah, where the hell did Paul Riser's character go? That was ridiculous there was no follow up in the final credits. What a disappointment.
And the way they did Bob, showing him as demodoggie chow... a bit disrespectful.
But the elements of a new series are certainly there. Don't know if I trust the Duffer bros to do it though.

Yeah because the complaint was spending too much time on secondary characters and not the main kids. We should have had a whole segment on Dr Owen’s. That would have been perfect.

And Linda Hamilton has become a one note character. From Terminator Dark Fate antinatalist & stone hearted military 'leader' , just like she was in Resident Alien, and again in Stranger Things.

The Abyss monsters probably because the physical Mind Flayer. It does help explain the lack of monsters since volume 1.
Lots of Demos were around when he had the physical room to add kids to it. It just felt more like plot convenience to exclude them. Physical mind flayer didn’t have that meat goo exterior he had when he was physical on Earth, but more traditional spider. No meat goo tentacles on the exterior, just his spider legs.
The meat goo mind flayer seemed much more dangerous than the abyss one.

Yeah I agree. The writers on ET, The Goonies, and stand by me were chicken shite. They didn’t have the balls to kill off any of the main characters. Should have been a red wedding scenario and ended up like game of thrones.

The fate of the world wasn’t on the line in those movies and the characters didn’t have to fight an inter dimensional space monster or superhuman psycho murderer banished to another dimension.

Was it though? Mike realized at graduation when he hears the feedback from the speakers that El had to be far away from the speakers the military was using in order to communicate with him like she did. He can’t confirm it. But I didn’t think it was that vague.

There was an article linked in one of the threads about this season that said the spinoff would NOT be run by the Duffers. They will have a hand in it, but apparently they now have a production deal with a different studio. Shawn Levy was mentioned as involved.

lol what the hell does social media have to do with pointing out the stupidity of your comment.
We get it, you liked the show. That doesn’t mean that they limped to a finish. The writing was incredibly weak this season. They had 3 years to make this and put out a subpar product.

Getting a big name like her, I expected a LOT more from her character. There was so little done to show her motivations, her background with the project etc. why bring in a big name for such a one note generic military baddie?
