Still the scariest scene of any movie I can remember

A mid 70s movie called Burnt Offerings. The chauffer was random recurring character who would pop up in a scene and scare the hell out of you. Any old timers remember it?

I never seen this movie before and I will have to check it out but I didn't get scared watching that.

I remember it, but it can't hold a candle to The Sentinel (1977).

I was 8 and of course getting Immersed in the story is important. His face just kind a looks like death itself

The only one I had to turn away from was when I was about 13 or 14 and saw the heat lamp scene in Untraceable. Actually had nightmares that night, which is the only time I've gotten that from a movie.

I’m sorry for sounding like a dick, but that may have been the least scariest scene I’ve ever watched.

I had completely forgotten about this movie. I don’t think I’ve thought about it in over 30 years. I’m 48 btw.

Never heard of it, but I'm guessing from the title and the fact that it was made in the 1970s...Satanic cult horror?

Yeah, it looks like one of those that work better in context. Given the description of the guy showing up randomly, that would be almost inevitable, in fact, if the randomness was what made him creepy.

This scared the shite out of me when I was young.
Salem's Lot. Doesn't do it justice without that scratching sound.

A movie that had small monsters with sharp teeth--not Critters. One of them came up through the toilet ball and ate the person's butt. Wasn't that scary in retrospect, but I did look in the toilet before I sat down for a few weeks.

What made me jump as a kid (first time seeing the movie on VHS) - maybe the inventor of "jump scares" was the ending of Carrie.
I had never seen that before...all quiet and nice sequence...and you think the movie is over and then boom.
You don't know it's a dream sequence until afterwards.

It seems tame now but that was scary back then. We just hadn't seen that before.
