And you will move on to your next white knight cause

At some point you'll have to accept that this isn't happening.

It may be announced as a retirement, but she'll be forced out.

Can defending the second most popular entertainment franchise on the planet be considered "white knighting?"

I don't have that perspective. ROS clearly factored in complaints about TLJ and consciously went a different direction.
This board did a bit of criticism of TLJ, and then people aren't satisfied when the people who run Star Wars respond by moving away from TLJ. I don't particularly get it.

I agree with you!
...and some people are just stupid and bitch for no reason...or simply bitch too much.

Because what they chose to do negated not only TLJ (good!), but the entire OT and therefore the significance of the PT as well. From a canon standpoint, it’s a train wreck.

No.it.does.not.

The canon started getting destroyed with the prequels.
Hell, the canon started getting destroyed when the originals were "enhanced" to have crap like Greedo shooting first.

The response to TLJ criticism was to call fans bigots. The only answer is to fire Kathleen Kennedy and distance themselves from Reeeee-ann Johnson. There is no other conclusion I find acceptable.

So, two thoughts.
First, after TLJ, I don't think there was any other choice. There was no other villain who could have stepped in. TLJ did happen, and ROS had to figure out how to work with it.
I also think they handled it as well as they could. Luke, Han and Leia all had major influence in the outcome. Also, the Emperor would have consolidated control much faster if he wins in the OT and this trilogy never happens.
Most of all, it's just a movie and this was literally the only way if you're not going to follow The Last Jedi path.

The point is to motivate Disney to make better movies.
If this movie didn't have "Star Wars" stamped on it, it would have trouble beating Valerian at the box office.
If these movies were good, every time one of them came out, the all time BO list would go like this.

I agree. Rise of Skywalker was better than The Last Jedi, and that's my point. Patronize the better movie.
The only way the logic doesn't work is if you think The Last Jedi is better. Otherwise, go see the movie that's a step up.

They're just trying to squeeze as much money out of every franchise they buy up. Hitting them in the wallet is the only thing that motivates them.

Sucking slightly less is not worth spending money on. And in some ways, ROS sucks worse.
I just disagree here. I enjoyed ROS a lot.
Honest question, what plot/character thing would you have done differently with ROS if you controlled it from the starting point at the end of TLJ?
Posted on 12/30/19 at 2:16 pm to Rep520
What difference does it make? It's done, and I'm not the one getting paid millions to do it.
Anyway, you're asking for a pretty comprehensive treatment, because it would be sweeping.

I just think ROS was as well executed as it could have been. My question wasn't to flame you, but because I'd be genuinely interested about ways a better film could have happened.
As I posted above, I think they had to resurrect the Emperor because they had no compelling bad guys left. That decision was forced.
That is (I assume) the main complaint of people who think it overwrote the OT. I just don't see a choice they had with an antagonist.

quote:Not even that is true. The Snoke who was killed in TLJ could have been a mere clone of the "main" Snoke. They did the clone thing anyway, so it wouldn't have been a long walk.

JJ runs home to his precious formulas because he doesn't know what else to do. He has no real creativity. He sits there in interviews and talks like he's some mastermind genius, when he's just the most successful hack of all time.
