I just hate how this trilogy has made the original trilogy pointless.
Luke/Anakin brought balance to the force? Nope.
Republic flourishes after ending the reign of the sith? Nope, 30 years later they will be down to 20 or so people in a ship.
Emperor dead? Nope. He's back.
What was actually accomplished in the OT? They won a big battle, that's about it.

I legitimately don’t know what the conflict is in this movie.
Is it the Resistance vs. the First Order or the Empire?
Is Kylo actually good? Is Rey actually bad?
Nothing about any of these possibilities is actually that compelling. They had to reprise the Emperor because Rian Johnson fricked it up so bad.
Thinking back to how awesome it was when the TFA trailer premiered during MNF 4 years ago, and this is where the story ended up. Just so sad.

For one thing, it counterintuitively lowers the stakes for this movie because how are they going to "No bullshite...he's really dead this time!" when he's defeated in this movie after surviving being chucked miles into a fusion reactor and then blown up in Return of the Jedi.
For another, they are going to have to explain why none of the Force ghosts ever bothered to tell Luke that the Emperor was still alive.
