You will probably have the same people who were crying about TFA copying Star Wars too much now crying that they strayed too far from what has been done before.

That's what's already happening.

People are living and dying by what Lucas did and by the non canon novels that came after. Everyone has had a pre conceived notion of what they wanted this trilogy to be about. Hell, some have fantasized about a sequel trilogy since the originals.

Now that it's not what they expect they reject it.

I'm about to go radio silent. Spoilers are flying around like crazy and I don't see it until tomorrow morning. Someone start a "Spoiler-free review" thread; I'll check it tonight after the first showing let's out.

So jacked.

Multiple outlets calling it the best Star Wars since Empire. Some saying it's even better.

Nah, I think this one is gonna be different than TFA. It's not going to just be standard haters lining up to hate, it's going to be far more polarizing than that.

Rian Johnson had to shake things up. There had to be a reason to tell a new story, to add new things and evolve the franchise, the story and characters. Otherwise why make a new trilogy?

He couldn't just sit on his hands and play it safe like JJ did.

Also, someone start a non spoiler thread later tonight. I don't get to see it until tomorrow at 7 with a group of 7. Can't wait to hear your guys thoughts

None of my critiques are about what the books were doing. A lot of my dislike comes from stuff they did new in TFA and they just decided to say screw it and throw that plot in the trash. Episode 9 may have to fix some of that damage. Major complaint just can't be discussed yet here.

Why are you arguing so hard for this before you know what we are discussing? You may have some pretty big issues with what was done as well. I have serious questions, but I won't call it a terd til I see it.

That's fine. There are a thousand ways to do that without gutting the new trilogy and star wars lore all within 2 1/2 hours. Sounds like this dude went on an amazing power trip. I've actually seen two clips from the movie and both of them looked like parody. Like "surely this isn't real" stuff. Hope I'm wrong, seeing it tonight.

going to watch empire of dreams after work.

it's on youtube, and you really get an understanding of how fricking hard it is to make a movie, especially the first 2 star wars movies.

Prequels seem much better, even the midichlorians, compared to what Rian Johnson just rolled out.

Nothing to do with betraying mythologies

But I’m not going to lie, I think it’s worse than any of the prequels even though it has moments that are better than anything in the prequels

The film is a complete mess

. Bahahaahhaha, hyperbole much. Don’t worry, Red Letter Media Guys will be along to let you and every other serious Star Wars critic know that it’s OK to enjoy the movie in a couple of days.
