If you want to know exactly what happens I can email you a synopsis. I won’t spoil the movie here because I’m no arse hole. Really, I’m just disappointed with major choices Rian made with the film as it concerns the major characters. I’m being as vague as possible as to not spoil it. But the line “this is not going to go the way you think” in the trailer seems to have been placed intentionally as a comment to all the fans and their theories leading into the film.

None of the theories/spoilers I had come across leading up to the film are correct, or close for that matter.

I’m pretty disappointed but whatever. I’ll still go see it.

I strongly considered not going to see it earlier when I learned of the plot. However I still have to see it play out as visually it does sound great.

I still want to see it played out in person, but it’s very hard to understand how you can call yourself a Star Wars fan and love that direction as the spoilers say.

It may be a lot better on film, but the spoilers sound like garbage. Makes you wonder how much money Disney is pumping at critics.

I told you. I expect these films to become exactly like the MCU. It's what Disney does.

Spoilers could be wrong? The film hasn't released to the general public yet

Plus, Rian is a huge Star Wars fan just like all of us. But he couldn't play it safe like JJ did. I think we should admire and try to like his take and story. At least he did something different. Irregardless, there was always going to be a divide on this movie.

It's hard to make a Star Wars flick that appeases the fan boys, the general audience and the critics. Nigh impossible

Star Wars is an arena that you don't worry about the critics.

For some reason, I still seem to remember the local newpaper review of Star Wars (the first one).
It got 3 stars out of 5, with the quote "King Arthur in Space" highlighted, presumably as a negative. A year or so later, as the phenomenon was realized, the same guy gave it a glowing review.

Star Wars is one of those rare things where the general audience IS the fan boys. You go in expecting certain things, and God help you if you deviate from that expectation.

I stumbled across a spoiler post, and .... let's say I hope it's a troll.

Spoilers are now confirmed true.

There is taking a risk and there is taking a dump on Star Wars fan boys to play to the new fans, it sounds like he chose the latter to me. It makes large parts of TFA meaningless as well.

Maybe the Star Wars fan boys should embrace new things and try to be open minded?

Many overseas have and there are many movie summaries online already. The guy posting in this thread claiming to have connections just ripped his spoilers straight from an Australian film synopsis.

They are 100% accurate though

I really don't get why people are so upset. Other than the Snoke part, nothing about the story is surprising or terrible.

When Empire came out people were pissed about Obi-Wan appearing as a ghost and Han getting frozen. Now these are considered iconic parts of the OT.

It always happens this way with sequels

But that is terrible. Really terrible. So are others, though.

I think it's just people unwilling to accept change and won't allow the series to evolve, probably the same who accepted all the novels post ROtJ as the Bible and were irate when they were deemed non canon
