If they market the shite out of Luke doing some wild shite it will bring the drooling OT fans crawling back IMO

Those "drooling OT fans" are the reason Star Wars is still around after 40 years.

Lol. Everyone who has been complaining will still be there for Ep 9 on opening weekend.

Lol, well here's one that won't, so you're wrong about everyone.

And yes the next one is going to be an uphill climb. Fans won’t trust the reviews

I feel like I got sucker punched. When I walked in the theater it was at 95%. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. No one actively wanted to hate the movie given the guy who made Ozymandias was directing.

I think there are plenty of folks like you. And then you add in the people who will wait for the reviews on the next one.

Rian Johnson is involved, so I don't expect it to be good.

Rian Johnson is not involved with 9.

He is supposed to get his own standalone trilogy.

That's right, it's JJ Abrams again... eh, the trilogy is pretty ruined now.

Give me Abrams any day of the week over that shite we got. Abrams plays it by the numbers and doesn’t piss people off deliberately.

Where do these people get off defending a film so vehemently? I didn’t see anyone defending the prequels this bad, and The Force Awakens and Rogue One had some people pan it but not nearly on this scale. Those films were generally liked. I liked them. I watched them at least twice in the theater. I’m not doing that with this one, and hopefully more people do the same. Lazy writing on this scale shouldn’t be rewarded simply because it has Star Wars slapped on it.

I haven't seen one person defend it vehemently. ETA: Maybe a couple, but they are in the extreme minority.

Not knocking Abrams, I just think the garbage 2nd movie makes it tough for Abrams in the 3rd movie.

This. I laughed to myself many times at what were supposed to be serious moments.
Even those stopped being funny about (what felt like) 3 hours in.

The movie is not lazily written, but written by an SJW. We let a fox into the henhouse with Rian Johnson. They should have gotten Alex Garland to write and direct this.

But Disney knows they can still profit just by slapping star wars on it , and now if you don't like it then you're chastised for being racist and/or sexist.

If you're wondering Disney has done the exact same with the star wars videogame called battle front... and even in that campaign mode there was a female lead.

Look, I’m about as big of an anti-SJW guy that we have on here, but that stuff was only like a fraction of what was wrong with this film.

Well it’s the mindset that led them off the scent to what could have been the best Star Wars movie ever. I just don’t know how it got by the script supervisors and they didn’t tell Rian to remove almost all the B-Plot and write more scenes about Rey and Kylo Ren. That is what was working in this movie, but we get so sidetracked on worthless bullshite. A writer/director like Alex Garland wouldn’t have done this shite.

Well the rest of the movie certainly wasn’t good enough to make me not notice it.

They stopped JUST short of overtly preaching feminism. It was almost like watching a lefty version of those awful Christian productions except with a far bigger budget and better production.
