The UN put out a report awhile back that basically said improving women's lives = improving society. So they're going all in on feminism assuming their promotion is going push society forward.
I don't think that's true. I think they have it backwards. When society improves, the lives of women improve as a consequence.

This is true but it wasn’t in every movie and tv show, it also didn’t permeate every aspect of life. Also there is a difference between having a message like opposing the Iraq War, environmental issues, the war on drugs or whatever and the current identity politics which is basically nothing but superficial box checking and trying to “own the cons”.
