speaking of friend zone, i did think that the first "force off" b/w reyson bourne and kylo ren left some romantic possibilities

apparently they're cousins, so nevermind, but that would have created an interesting love triangle and darkside/force conflict over the trilogy

Watched it for a second time today and ended up liking the movie even more. Something that stuck out at me the second time was the scene where Kylo Ren is reading Rey's mind. He makes mention that he can see the ocean and the island in her thoughts. Which tells me she knew the exact spot where Luke was hiding before she had even gone there. What gives? Did the lightsaber show her the island or is there a memory floating around inside her head waiting to get out?

It was Brienne... Without a single decent fight scene. She was totally wasted.

She caved pretty easily for someone who appeared to be pretty dedicated to the First Order cause.

Han Solo was handcuffed by years of character development before the Original and he's hands down the most beloved character of the OT

Sure but that doesn't mean a character with less history has nothing to build on.

the reliance on another Death Star like weapon.

it was just remaking episode 4 all over again to make fans feel safe, from the orphan "chosen one" on a sand planet who befriends a little droid to the new death star. i get WHY JJ did it, but from an objective standpoint it was just weak

What you're looking for is Canderous type from KOTOR.

I don't WTF that means
Canderous Ordo is a seasoned Mandalorian soldier NPC in KOTOR. KOTOR is a record breaking SW video game.

His character would fit close to what you wanted in Finn.

Yea, I was hoping for more of her. Hopefully she isn't dead.

uh, what does he have to build on. I was boot private who got cold feet and ran away on my first mission. It's just boring. Finn is never gonna get his own spinoff. Captain Phasma was a better character than him and I agree with ell, she should have had the chance to whip his arse, somebody's arse. Hell, she could have played the role of the trooper that deserted and it would have been better.

Nah, they reused tons of themes from Empire and Jedi as well.

I think people perceive it all coming from A New Hope because of the first act but most of the second and third acts are new takes on the themes of Episodes V and VI.

at leas han had the "i'm a loner who wants nothing to do with your rebellion" that changed over time

finn changed almost upon initial viewing and is already the hero by the end of the first movie. they relied on his character so much to move certain plot points in the first movie and i just don't see what larger role he can be. he's an uneducated simpleton who isn't much for fighting and already blew his "spy" character load

Think I read that she will be in the next one. Seems like a waste to cast a well-known actor and do that little with her.

Cool. She has a lot to offer and hopefully is used more in the next one.

I dunno. Maybe he takes the "I got my arse handed to me and almost died, so now I'm going get out of here." Maybe he takes up Solo's role with Chewy. There are lot of possibilities they have with him.

Hell, maybe Ren kills him and everyone else except Rey in Episode VIII (which I would personally find awesome.)

People are so insane about GOT spoilers that you might get banned for that.

I think most agree with this statement. But didn't make the movie any less awesome

Well said.

I enjoyed it a lot. Didn't go in looking for things to harp about. Just let the story and characters take shape and that was enough for me. Loved Ridley. Really liked Driver. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Well, hopefully this isn't Brienne in space.

I'm saying the character Phasma has a lot to offer.
