i'm just giving a general overview. if there is an active rebellion, there will be action scenes establishing this
just like how i said the end of the 2nd act would basically be episode 4 in reverse. a telling victory for the new rebels
attempting to unite the galaxy would allow for a lot of legitimate conflict while also allowing much more robust exploration of the galaxy itself. the one thing i hope for with this franchise reboot is that we get a lot more exploration of the galaxy and stories within it. this doesn't have to be in the main triology
the best we got with this with the OT were the 2 ewoks movies

My lai massacre was in the 60s. An entire company of American infantry killed hundreds of women and children because their captain ordered them too. And these were young men who had grown up in regular households with parents who lived them and presumably taught them some morals. But they got caught up in the moment and followed their orders.
In Star Wars context, there wouldn't be millions of empire soldiers and workers that just punch their timecards and massacre billions indiscriminately unless that was true.
But if you accept that, you also have to know there will be dissidents as well.

If there's one character that people should be complaining about, it's Captain Phasma. I'm surprised SFP hasn't hit on that one yet being a GOT fan.

That's what I've been saying. Frankly, they were just lazy with Finns character. Really disappointing
i can live with him in one movie, but it's scary to think of how they're going to rely on him moving forward. his use in this movie was that he was the rain man of imperial, er, new order, sanitation workers.
i REALLY hoped he had died

the whole problem with the character. he starts from a bad base. the foundation is weak
I'm not sure I understand why the foundation is weak. We have essentially a kid who grew up being trained to follow commands from the First Order and in his first combat mission doesn't have the nerve/moral numbness to do it. So he flees with plans to run and hide.

Of course there would. And I even rewrote Finns character to reflect that in a much more interesting way.

And I also think that the scenario I laid out in that post that you ignored would have made a much better movie.

that was the chrome storm trooper?
i just took that as a toy that hopefully won't show up again

And I find that boring and it leaves nothing to build on.

I don't WTF that means

and if he had left after the tavern scene, i wouldn't care as much
but he was used as a plot device in the most annoying way after. he was a lowly, inexperienced guy who couldn't handle fighting? ok. i'll even let his witty banter slide. but being the plans in R2D2 from episode 4? too much.

KOTOR = knights of the old republic, a book series that is no longer canon but is much beloved

I'm not sure how you can argue that. Finn leaves unlimited creative ability in that character. In your hypothetical, that proven First Order officer is going to be handcuffed by years of character development.

I miss the days when we could enjoy movies without picking everything apart.

It was Brienne... Without a single decent fight scene. She was totally wasted.

Boyega's character just didnt fit Star Wars. It would be great for Independence Day but just didnt fit right for Star Wars.

Let me guess the reasons you think this:
1) He's black
2) He may bang a white girl
And that's pretty much it.
Stop being a douche. And she has already put him in the "friend" zone by her last comments. Geez. Has nothing to do with race.

yeah i could recognize the voice but couldn't place it. my roommate told me who it was after. did she just do the voice work or the whole shebang?

Han Solo was handcuffed by years of character development before the Original and he's hands down the most beloved character of the OT

I will say that the my biggest problem with the film was the reliance on another Death Star like weapon. It's not bad; just unnecessary. They could have just as easily had the First Order find Luke's location and have the final big battle in space outside that planet.

She was in the suit. Wish it was her fighting Fin outside of Maz' place.
