We get it already, you hated the movie. I thought it good, not great, but good . . . with many flaws. It's a story I can live with though. I see nothing wrong with parallels to ANH. You can't satisfy everyone. You make what you can and move along and hopefully the story will flesh itself out as it moves along.

Anyway, with Finn,

I'd really like more backstory on how you become a Stormtrooper these days. Is it as simple as being taken young, brainwashed, and forced into it?

I'm guessing that Luke (or the Force in some way) guided him to turn all Benedict Arnold so quickly.

Is he is a Rebel plant with repressed memories, much like Rey . . . trained by Luke when he was young?

I did not think he and Rey had much physical chemistry - and she gave him the ole "friend" line at the end while he lay recovering.

Geez, I need to see the movie again. But that is what those frackers want me to do.

I thought it was pretty cool when kylo was hitting himself where he got shot while continuing to fight

I liked that too. Sort of like he was drawing power and rage from it. Even though you couldn't tell in the fight.

Even with the disappointments I had in this movie, I don't get anyone having a problem with Finn, Rey, or Ren. They're characters were, by far, the best things about this movie. Finn and Rey especially.

It was a projection. He isn't that big, the first time we saw the Emperor in Empire, his face was 10 feet tall.

I know it was just felt strange seeing such a big image. I understand what they were trying to do but they took it to far IMO

Entertaining film but it was almost comical how much of a fan film it was. I was waiting for the returning stars to pause and bow, and then smile at the audience as each plot point from New Hope was repeated

I liked it, and would rank it third or fourth. Based on J.J.'s Star Trek, I expected some rehashing, but I don't think that was a killer.

The thing that completely took me out of the movie at times were the First Order leads and the non-Asian gang leader. What DeVry Institute of acting were they found at? Didn't seem believable at all.

even movies like gravity, people tried to make it look horrible. There are just some people who simply can't enjoy movies I guess.

Or Skyfall. we were all talking about how great it was when it was at the theater. Now you'd think the whole board hates it.

I didn't really like it as much as I thought would from reading the reviews. Sure, its better than the prequels, but I can't say it's close to any of the originals, even ROTJ. The story is clearly recycled from the OT, I can't believe that some people are trying to deny this fact. As for some of my other issues:

- when the falcon was built, traveling through hyperspace wasn't like dusting crops. Now it conveniently gets you exactly where you need to go.

- can that ship actually crash? They must have driven it into the ground a dozen times.

- the soundtrack was surprisingly bad, why not reuse the soundtracks wasted on the prequels?

- like the prequels, it suffers from tiny universe syndrome except that now, everyone is most likely someone's child.

- I get that Kylo was not fully trained, but he must really suck to lose to someone who has never used a light saber. I don't see why any of that was necessary. Save it for a later movie when Rey has had some training.

- Finn has moments of "urban" dialogue that feel really forced.

- the scenes on solo's smuggling ship were equally ridiculous to anything Lucas tossed into the prequels.

Downvote if you agree.

They only part that I thought kind of drug on or stunk was when Kylo was trying to read Rey's mind for like 10 minutes with no dialogue.

That was one of the best scenes in the movie. It helped define Kylo's character, he and Rey's relationship, Rey's innate powers, and it delved deeper into the powers of the Force. They are more creative with the Force in that scene than everything in the prequels combined.

they never had problems going where-ever they needed to go, do you not understand how hyperspace works?

The ship is built to withstand damage, what is so wrong with that?

John Williams doesn't make bad music

Kylo has training and can use the force well the problem is that he doesn't know how to control his emotions. Rey was able to overcome her fear, which gave her the advantage in the fight, being aggressive in a fight many times isn't a good thing.

I just asked my kids who their favorite characters were in the film. One said Poe and the other said Ben.

Even a 7 and 9 year old can see how simple and boring Rey and Finn were.

Or they just thought the bad guy and the badass pilot were really cool.

Kids tend to be stupid that way you know.

the bad guy was a little disappointing for me. He wasn't bad but it was strange for him to look like a BA than struggle with his emotions. I thought it out now it makes sense but it kinda hurt my initial view of him.

I think it may have helped if he kept the Mask on, it was intimidating, his face just isn't that intimidating, and his mask lost it intimidation factor.
